I'm not surprised, he looked very mediocre during his stint coaching Team Canada.
Even in our championship run, it was our defense that won us the chip.
The offense was surprisingly meh considering the roster we had.
He's clearly a defensive coach, which took me a long time to get around to because he was in charge of our offense under Casey. There is a clip of Pat Bev telling a story about Kawhi asking him if he likes playing for Nurse. Pat says yes and Kawhi says "He lets you do whatever you want on offense, right?"
What's even more clear is that the guy is not a leader and has no ability to create and maintain a culture. He destroyed ours in front of our eyes and couldn't establish one on Philly. He hoped Lowry could bail him out again but did not realize that Casey and Masai were the ones that built that culture and gave Lowry the immense equity he had in that locker room in how they managed him.
As a Philly Flyers far for hockey(please save the laughs), I chat with a fair amount of 76ers fans. They can't understand where the great defense Nurse was known for with us, is in Philly.
The constantly talk how when they were playing the Raps before, there were tons of different schemes being run to keep the 76ers offense off guard. They said its non-existent in Philly.
I had told them that the offense should be good because...well at the time had Harden, Maxey, Harris and JE so you sort of knew how they would play doing their own thing. But I wrongly said he would hone in their defense.
And now, they looked checked out. As others mentioned, today could be his last game and few would be surprised
