There’s no GOAT case. And his championships will be treated like any player who has to be the second option and ride coat tails. He’s played eight more seasons, bandwagoned to multiple teams and still can’t catch Jordan, who three peated twice. I’m sorry but that’s a reality you’re going to eventually have to deal with. He can team up with the Silver family and it still won’t mean a damned thing because that other guy was just straight up better at the game and a better winner as well.

Depends, who gets finals MVP? If lebron gets it, it would catapult him up even if Luka was on the team.

LeBron isn't tainted by not winning rings as the number 1. He is tainted by always requiring superstar help to win a championship.

exactly. it isn't a slam dunk that he wouldn't be the best player. either one of those guys who could have a huge playoffs or series and be considered the best player.

so far this year, lebron has been better.

Lebron's career has more meaning now. His son hyped him up some but Luka has extended Lebrons career. Lebron has no reason to retire now. Bronny and Lebron in the NBA Finals!

Zero chance this team gets past the Thunder or Nuggets. I wouldn't worry about it.

If, according to Bron slurpers and Klutch Sports clients, Scottie Pippen averaging 35 fewer PPG in Jordan's first playoff series win is a stain on Jordan's legacy, then LeBron being carried by Luka is the ultimate stain.

Sorry guys but those are the rules according to the Bron stans. Until they move the goalposts when the criteria is applied to LeBron. Like they always do.

Bron stans didn't start embracing that narrative until his Finals losses started piling up.

Exactly.

People forget the point of all the metrics, the stats, the records, are indicators for what players could give their team the best chance at a title. It just doesn't happen for some great players so we don't diminish their greatness, but the titles are why they play the game. The whole reason for lebrons hype was potential titles. The greatest ever just wouldn't have that finals record. Sorry. Great player but let's call it like it is.

Well, you guys are using the term “hate” loosely, so I’m just going by your definition. We don’t spend time thinking about our hate. We’re just tired of hearing about him and find him overrrated by you guys. It’s fairly simple and it’s just annoying to constantly be around, just like kobe hype back in the day.

I had a talk with a friend from another state who doesn’t even follow basketball and in a football talk he brought up lebron stating, “He just seems like a guy who keeps playing with some of the best players and hasn’t done much with it. I’m sick of hearing about him *laugh*”

To us, he and his fans are annoying and anti competitive. To you, it’s “hating”

to which I then gave my two cents and agreed, of course.

First off, anybody that has read your posts knows that isn't true. Secondly, you regularly update your signature which is dedicated to hating LeBron, so by definition you DO spend time thinking about your hate

When a big portion of your posts are hating on a player 'we don't spend our time thinking about our hate'

Probably half way true tbh, because most of the time 'thinking' clearly wasn't being applied.

But why does that taint LeBron but doesn't taint Kobe or Jordan or Magic or Russell?

It's not like those other guys were winning championships with a bunch of spuds. The Kobe / Shaq Lakers were, by far, the most talented team of their era and the same of course was true of the Jordan / Pippen Bulls and the Magic / Kareem Lakers. None of these guys were winning with ensembles who were greater than the sum of their parts.

We also know what it looked like when Kobe or Jordan weren't surrounded with elite talent. The results were often ugly. So why do some players get criticised for having 'help' while others have their 'help' ignored? Seems rather odd to me, unless people are being deliberately dense to drive an agenda.

It is complete nonsense to say it would be tainted of course.

If you have a look at the other thread in regard to the identity of the GOAT it is hardly only LeBron who has his titles devalued because of his team-mates however.

The whole thing is funny. Like, when i claimed Jokic has already passed LBJ then the one argument against it is usually "but...but...ringzz!" At the same time, when holding rings against LBJ, they dont matter, nor does the way they were won. Guys cant make up their minds. There was a phase when they kept telling us rings are all that mattered, because it justified his ring chasing and super team collusion. Also 10-15 years ago i guess they thought its safe to bet on him to win 5 or more. Well too bad, that ship has sailed and they were forced to flip the script once again. Now, suddenly, its not rings, or MVP's or what ever that matters in the GOAT debate but only longevity, even if you dont play any defense for the last five years of your career...

Straight truth

He's never won a ring where he didn't have the most overwhelmingly talented team, even in the middle of his prime.

Nobody played with more talent while possessing more talent than Lebron. OK maybe KD did on the Dubs but he straight up dominated the league and won titles not even breaking a sweat.

Lebrons circumstances means he should have Bill Russell amount of rings if we're being honest here
That's not true. He was the underdog versus the Warriors, Spurs.

Well for starters those other guys you named stayed on the same team and didn't hop teams.

Second Lebrons failures when he's had tailor made teams the past 15 years. Sure Kobe, Magic, Mike, and Russell had amazing teammates but Lebrons had many more highly decorated team mates over his career than all of them and had less success.

So for starters, that's why.

I get it- it must be frustrating for you all, especially after following him for so long and he hasn't even caught Kobe.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o
