If the cost is right. He seems capable of turning into an Austin Reaves caliber of player.

Being more useful than Matthews isn't a hard thing to do.Jamaaliver wrote:HMFFL wrote:Does Dalton Knecht interest any of you?

Being more useful than Matthews isn't a hard thing to do.Knecht may never be an All Star.Spoiler:
But he's entering his physical prime and making around $4 million annually. He's likely to outperform that contract by a lot.

Kobe for Kenecht?
The cost will likely outweight any benefit. I don't think they would do Kobe for him and they likely want him to be part of a larger package.Jamaaliver wrote:dms269 wrote:Jamaaliver wrote:

Kobe for Kenecht?
We need shooting. They need perimeter defense.
..it makes sense for both teams.
(Dalton playing between Jalen and Dyson could be a perfect match of passing, shooting and defense.)
NOTE: I do believe Kobe, at age 21, still has a much higher ceiling than DK. I'm just not convinced he'll realize that ceiling in an Atlanta Hawks uniform.

In the role has has played so far, I don't see it. I'm also not a fan of left handed players. The only lefty I liked was Manu.
Got it.dms269 wrote:No. Highish floor, low ceiling. He is older than JJ. Can't defend. For some reason, Laker fans think if him as this amazing prospect.

We'd have to rearrange the entire front court to make it work.
Bleacher ReportEvery NBA Team's Top 3 Offseason Trade Targets
Atlanta Hawks
Top Targets
- Draft picks
- Cam Whitmore, Houston Rockets
- Collin Sexton, Utah Jazz
The Hawks have put a forward-looking focus on most of their most recent moves, but they need to keep pushing in that direction. Remember, they're working from a deficit, having already ceded control of their next three first-round picks to the San Antonio Spurs, so they can't reap the rewards of bottoming out.
Chasing as many external picks as possible remains the way to go, as this young core, intriguing as it is, remains in need of expansion.
In an ideal world, Atlanta would trade its way back into those now Alamo City-based picks, but that option likely went out the window when the Spurs tabbed De'Aaron Fox—not Trae Young—as Victor Wembanyama's first co-star.
The Hawks should still be on the hunt for picks wherever they can find them, but chasing young talent makes sense, too.
With more developmental room to grow than he's had in Houston, Whitmore has a chance to really blossom as a scoring threat thanks to his spring-loaded athleticism and ignitable outside shot. Atlanta could also have eyes on Sexton, either to serve as a temporary replacement for Young or to pilot the offense when he needs a breather.

I love the players that arrived in the last trades, with Niang, LeVert and Mann being real contributors. It is really remarkable the atmosphere they have created since day 1. They play with intensity and is seems like there is an excellent team atmosphere. That is really outstanding, because LeVert was in a much competitive team fighting for big goals this season and now he has more or less the same role with us in a team that fights for getting into the PI.
What I see is that we have a myriad of players with an above average level, but we need some of them to stand out or be traded in 2X1s or 3X1s for really good players or a second star. We have Matthews, LeVert, Mann, Bufkin, Wallace, Barlow and some of them should be converted into someone with a major contribution, as we also have Gueye, Nance (who I love off the bench with his shooting ability), Daniels, Trae, JJ, Risacher, OO.
Trae
Daniels
Risacher
JJ
OO
-------------------------
Bufkin
LeVert
Mann
Gueye/Niang
Nance
Speaking of Gueye, as I see they are trying to develop him, don't you think he is not playing enough time for him to gain some consistency? Also, don't you think he should be playing more off the bench, so he can face other bench players and boost his confidence? It is strange to me that he plays 5 minutes at the beginning of the halfs, misses some threes and then he usually does not play in 2nd and 4th quarters...
Cap walking without us acquiring any value for him defines our front office. We can just gift the team that signs him a couple of seconds round picks since apparently we don't need them.dms269 wrote:Rebound Mound wrote:I do not have any trade proposal. Capela is likely gone, probably taking all or part of the mle to go to a contender (Lakers seem like a fit). LeVert, Matthews, and Nance are both ufa so we would need to offer them enough to come back.
It is a lot easier to say "trade our extra pieces for a contributor.

The decision to move Gueye into the starting lineup of a semi-competitive veteran-laden team is indeed madness.
Hurts the team with very little benefit to the player or the rotation.
I can't help but wonder if this forced evaluation indicates MG is in a make or break period.
Otherwise, it's just really dumb to make the kid struggle against NBA starters and then leave him rotting on the bench against NBA backups.
