Making many of the trade ideas in the Setting the Pace podcast impossible.

IMO,... the Lakers should consider signing Duarte as a 2-way? IMO, he fits best as a catch & shoot, can be a defender guard next to a player like Doncic? It's a slower paced game, that relies heavily on Luka creating opportunities, with the need for catch-&-shoot players as the 3rd option on nearly every action. Duarte could thrive in that environment, where the pace & 'connection' responsibilities aren't as dynamic as the Pacers offense. He would also be less 'on an island' on defense?

Just a small bit of hope, that he could catch a break & catch on somewhere where his game fits & he could have a chance?

Since he has more than 3 years of nba service, Duarte is ineligible to sign as a Two-Way player.

Whenever I have watched Middleton play since their championship I always think of the Paul Pierce in the wheelchair clip.

I think of him putting up 25/9/5 against the Pacers this past playoffs on 48/36/90 splits. :o

Lots of trades today but unless there's a last minute surprise, we stood pat. that makes sense. we have a history of sneaking into deals, but teams that do that usually are taking salary into caps or exemptions and we would've wanted to dump salary not add it. I fully expect a summer trade, but there is time to figure out who best to move.

AI Generated summary of the 2025 NBA trade deadline:

2025 NBA Trade Deadline
The 2025 NBA trade deadline has concluded, with a record number of trades taking place in the days leading up to the deadline, including the blockbuster trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis.
As of the deadline on Thursday, February 6, 2025, twenty-six of the thirty NBA teams had made at least one move, with only Orlando, Denver, Portland, and Minnesota standing pat.
The trade deadline saw a number of high-profile players change teams, including Jimmy Butler, who was traded to the Golden State Warriors, and De'Aaron Fox, who was dealt to the San Antonio Spurs.

Luka Doncic: Traded to the Los Angeles Lakers from the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster deal that also included Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick.
Jimmy Butler: Traded to the Golden State Warriors and signed a two-year extension.
De'Aaron Fox: Traded to the San Antonio Spurs as part of a larger deal that also saw Zach LaVine head to the Sacramento Kings.
Brandon Ingram: Acquired by the Toronto Raptors from the New Orleans Pelicans despite the team's rebuild efforts.
De'Andre Hunter: Traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers on deadline day, one of the smaller but still meaningful moves made on the final day of trading.

With this much movement,... and the current rumors swirling that KD & the Suns have agreed to move on from each other this summer?... IMO, it feels like this coming summer is going to be particularly dramatic in reshaping both teams and the league? Just wondering if anyone else has that feeling?....

If so,.. what would you like to see happen with the Pacers?.....

Yeah,.. I know this is early,.. still have a long way to go this season,... It just seems like there are a few contenders, and a few teams with a clear,... or at least 'clearer' path to move forward (I would put the Pacers in this group),... and a large part of the league holding their breathe,... ready to exhale & rethink their teams in the off season?

@Scoot - I don’t keep up with type of stuff. Is 25 games the normal, first offense, 1 x use, caught in a test, kinda penalty? Honestly asking, can’t remember the last time I saw a suspension for drug, sorry edit: banned substance use?

To the best of my memory, it takes multiple offenses to get a suspension. So, he's not new to this sort of "mistake". It's OK with me, as I've never liked the guy to begin with.

25 games is normal for a first time offense? I don't think so, otherwise we would be seeing more suspensions. Then again, I've certainly been wrong before.

It qualifies under the “SPED” program, so a first violation is 25 games. Steroids, performance enhancing, diuretics, and masking agents…

Drugs of abuse have a treatment program. Marijuana used to have a 5 game suspension (then 10, 15, 20, etc) but was largely eliminated in this newest CBA.
