He talked about advice he gave Portis on how to deal with his suspension.
He said that Portis is a key voice at practice, generating energy for the entire team, and that with Portis' recent absences, he (Garcia) has filled that void.
He said that Sims told him that he was a 1-5 defender, so Garcia shouted to the team what Sims had said and told them to challenge Sims and attack him.
He talked a lot about the Portis suspension, that the failed drug test occurred last fall, and that Rivers said that the team could not appeal, because that would be "too risky". He said that Rivers didn't want to go into too many specific details, implying that he (Garcia) didn't want to go there and provide too much information. Super vague.
Garcia acts like he's independent while he's on LOB, when he's a team employee. It goes against the idea of media. He's basically a p.r. guy for the Bucks.
He's been minimizing Sims a lot, to back up Doc's dismissiveness about him. He's a playable big in plenty of situations, & the last few weeks we've needed that. He's a change-up from Brook, even Bobby when around.
A prime example of how he's a p.r. guy for the Bucks is Trent replaces Beasley, then Justin argues it's refreshing to get a guy who can finish inside actually. If anything Trent's worse at it. Beasley had a high glasser & could throw it down on occasion.
