As you said, a hurt Embiid has been pretty bad. However, I like our chances to lose better without him.

That depends on how who Nurse chooses to play. If he plays Drummond, we may be even worse. If he plays Bona/Yabu, we will play the fast and athletic basketball we played when Joel was gone, now also with Grimes. We will win some games for sure.

32 mins a night for Drummond for the rest of the year. Give him those counting stats so he opts out.

Not really news to anyone, but it's a pretty decent point. I hope Butler can be a good backup PG for the future. McCain/Maxey are/will be studs. Justin Edwards is an excellent 3&D wing prospect. Grimes is already an established solid young vet. It is imperative to get, and hit on, this pick to usher in the next generation of this team. If we get Flagg, our future is going to be extremely bright.

Nothing to support the chatter; but folks are discussing Joel getting a medical retirement where he gets his money and team gets his numbers off the cap. It would require NBA doctors to agree that the injury will get worse or cause Joel future medical risks.

Feels like Joel cares too much about playing/winning to take that sort of deal. He's already played through so many injuries. I'd be stunned if things ended that way for him.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

It's one thing to play through injury and still kick everyones ass and another to play like Chris Dudley while fighting through it. His motivation might be completely gone.

Missing Batman. If we can get that player in this draft the next era starts to take shape.

Batman = ?
Robin= Maxey
6th man = McCain
Starting Role Players = Grimes, Edwards.

I believe having another team's pick would allow us to trade a pick the following year. Since we own the Clippers 2028 pick, we would have to relinquish our 2028 pick to the Nets.

The wording realgm has is:
At least two years after Philadelphia conveys a 1st round pick to Oklahoma City if this pick is conveyed to Oklahoma City in 2025 or 2026, Philadelphia's 1st round pick to Brooklyn protected for selections 1-8 in 2027 and 1-8 in 2028; if Philadelphia has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Brooklyn by 2028, then Philadelphia will instead convey its 2028 2nd round pick to Brooklyn

The "at least two after the OKC pick is conveyed" part makes it seem to me like this pick become a 2nd if we don't convey the OKC pick this year or next.

My understanding is that essentially they traded the 2027 1st to BKN. But since the Sixers could convey a pick in 2025 or 2026 to OKC, they needed that ‘two years after’ language to satisfy the Stepien Rule. If they somehow do not convey a pick to OKC at all, then they will still be on the hook for a 2027 top 8 protected 1st to BKN.

Just to clarify, I was wondering if:
-the Sixers keep their pick in 2025
-the Sixers keep their pick in 2026
-the Sixers lose their pick to OKC in 2027.

How does that affect the Brooklyn pick? Brooklyn pick says to be conveyed in 2027 or 2028, but if OKC gets their 2027 pick, how would they send a pick to Brooklyn?

-Would we be forced to send a pick anyway in 2028 since we currently have ours and LAC?

We would send our '28 2nd to them in that scenario.

If we could get out of one of the two 1sts we owe that would be great. Avoiding OKC for three years of top 6, top 4, and top 4 protections isn’t likely. However, if we can keep our pick this year and next, we all-of-a-sudden get a first back. And have an extra in 2028.

You can still achive that by tanking into top 8 in 2028 if we can keep our pick this year.

Putting this up as we count losses. We have a 6 game gap with Hornets/Jazz/Pelicans here's where they stand schedule wise:

Hornets: 8 games left with teams that are tanking or could be. They have 2 wildcard games at end of season against Celtics who could be resting stars. Probably the best chance we have of having a team catch up to us. Wiz/Pels/Jazz should all be wins. So just need 3 wins from grouping of Nets/Spurs/Raptors x2 and Bulls.

1 vs Wizards
1 vs Nets
1 vs Spurs
2 vs Raptors
1 vs Bulls
1 vs Pels
1 vs Jazz

Jazz: 6 games left. No real wild cards

1 vs Pels
1 vs Wiz
2 vs Raptors
1 vs Us
1 vs Hornets

Pels: Just 4 games and last game of season against Thunder who could be resting.

1 vs Jazz
1 vs Hornets
1 vs Us
1 vs Nets

I missed that. Good point. I hope we are good by them, but good to have the option.

Brooklyn about to win. That gives us some more separation. Nice night for the tank

We are legit terrible but we faked not tanking long enough that Silver can give his blessing this time.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
