Lol c'mon guys this is not unique to Jokic. This is literally how they track assists and it's basically always been this way.

I got bad news for you if you think most of Stockton's 15806 assists were all magically creative passes that immediately led to buckets. Go watch any high assist game from Russ, Nash, Magic, Kidd... you'll find a good number of them are just passes to a guy who scores in iso after. Or entry passes into a long post up.

The assists has nothing to do with this era. We might even argue that at least they tried to give more clarification for some, but this has been going on for 30+ years. You'd have to go back to the 60's, maybe early 70's to have more strict assists

Assists is a subjective stat, at least sometimes. My general outlook is that I know one when I see it, meaning "yeah that guy isn't getting that shot without the previous pass."

Every single player in the league would receive questionable assists. It’s the nature of the stat due to subjective score keeping.

Do you think there’s a league wide conspiracy to pump up his stats? He averages the same amount of assist on the road as he does at home so you believe the opposition scorekeepers are in on it too?
