He wont be. Which why you gonna call this in 4 years retooling
PJSteven22 wrote:Chi town wrote:PJSteven22 wrote:31 games>82 math checks out. Giddey is not even a top 10 PG. why are you going so hard for him.
His evaluation should be heavily weighted towards post TDL due to his role changing significantly and it being the role you will resign him for and be willing to pay for. His games since TDL def check out as a top 3 player on a good team. I do expect his numbers to dip a little when Vuc returns, mostly scoring.
That’s a small sample size.

Bold statement based on how he is playing his last 30 games.

May be small but it’s most accurate.
30 games by end of season will help.

He’s shooting 54 percent from deep. That’s not sustainable.

That’s not really the evaluation. Only one of those players is 22. You don’t rebuild with 38 year olds.
From that list I’d take Cade, Shai, Luka and Maxey over post TDL Giddey. Garland is awful on D. Hali is a head case and I don’t trust his body to hold up. Brunson is older and injury risk with his style of play. Not a big fan of Fox.
For a young rebuilding team post TDL 22yr old Giddey looks like a strong fit. He’s already beginning to lead and organize the floor in key moments to get the team good shots.

Of course it’s not.
I maintain what I’ve been saying for weeks…
Giddey at 40% from 3 at 5 3PAs per game and 80%FT at 6 FTA per game is a useful and winning player.
Last offseason he played in the Olympics and was injured. A summer with Patton will help his shot and his 3PA. I think the above is very doable. He is already doing it. The toughest thing for him will be the 3PA because he doesn’t like to take even lightly contested 3s.

Yes. Bold but we know how fakes one look. Coby White had eventual hot streak after signing new contract instead being out of league and replaced and outplayed by early 2nd rounder Ayo Donsunmu after spent 4 years in a league already. We have Patrick Williams on a 20 per year, 5 year deal with PO who is at best looking as a bench player after spending 4 years doing nothing. His contract is literally based on projection of 7-8 streak of decent games of being good NBA player.
Winning and playing well in meaningless games at the end of season when every team is tanking is not good player judgment. I rather take bigger and proven by numbers stats with big sample size of games and show you that Josh Giddey doesnt project into anything top in a league.

I think you’re speaking as if Giddey was a bad player before now. He wasn’t. He was one of many young players on an OKC team where someone was going to have to be moved and he was the odd man out. But Giddey has always been a high potential type of player and what he’s doing now (while not necessarily sustainable) isn’t super surprising as he has this type of ability.
