I like Bullard as a safety and like his versatility but he's not fast enough to be a regular in the nickel. Some packages, sure, but surely Hobbs is an upgrade at slot/NB, right?

Neither signing today is sexy but I do see their usefulness. I'd say we got a little better on the margins today. Positive depth at minimum

The Packers essentially played Bullard in the slot exclusively at the end of the season, even choosing to start guys like Zayne Anderson over him at safety when Evan Williams was out. Ryan Wood has also reported that the plan is to play Hobbs on the perimeter

Yeah just saw that. Looks like Hobbs does have the physical traits to be an outside guy. Either way it's useful and versatile depth.

I fully admit this opinion is novice eye test and maybe some bias on prototype but I don't know if Bullard is quick enough to be a full time slot guy. Like maybe as an earlier down guy because he's a good tackler, but I don't think he's quick enough to match up with slot WR on passing downs. Am I off base in this viewpoint?

I'd take him on a low-risk deal. I just don't know if we can count on him with his injury issues.

It would have to be very cheap for me. He looked pretty washed last year

He had two drops all season. I wouldn't be looking for him to be the #1 or #2 guy here, he'd be a 3rd or 4th who (when he's out there) could be a reliable safety net. I don't imagine he's gonna command big bucks.

I loved the Bullard pick but he wasn't very good at either S or Nickel last season.

Barely know anything about Banks or Hobbs so knowing how this has gone with previous free agencies that means they're going to be solid

Still think it's highly likely Alexander is cut/traded. I think the trade market for him was found lacking so they opted to wait and see if any CB needy teams get desperate after all the top free agent CBs get signed.

Those are two of the deeper positions in this draft so I'm guessing that's the plan.

They're also two of the more expensive positions to fill, so I'm fine with addressing them with early draft picks. The only real problem area left is that deep threat WR, not sure where they're going to go to fill that need.

Some Packer Twitter people hinting at a pass rush addition

The only two that make sense would be trading for Hendrickson or signing Ojulari imo

I kinda think it has to be Hendrickson otherwise why would they be so secretive about it?

He only had 2 drops because they never throw to him. Why? Because he can't get open. Washed, was last good in 2021. Hard pass.
