Ouch? Really? St. Juste absolutely stinks. I don't understand how you can complain about the third string RB that was actually solid when he played, but complain about losing one of the worst cornerbacks in the league. Just odd.

I would guess they will be going Edge with their 1st round pick. They are so expensive in the free agent market and this draft is deep on defense.

I've been up and down on free agency so far, don't love it but I end up not hating it after some thought. Last year I walked out thinking their biggest need on defense was the ability to stop the run, and their biggest need on offense was the ability to run. I think they've probably improved their ability to stop the run, I don't think they've improved their ability to run. I'm talking about scripted RB plays not JD's scrambles.

I could definitely live with that. I would like to walk out with a day 2 RB, this is the draft to get them, feel like we missed our chance last year with WRs.

I will defend this by saying this. I thought that BSJ was 24/25 for some reason . He's 27/28 that changes my opinion a bit to I don't really care he's gone. But, you can get a McNicols on the UDFA market and there are with out a doubt starting RB on day 3 of the draft this year. We also still have Rodriguez sort of and I think he's a much better option in my opinion.

Bringing back brown and Osborne is pretty silly in my opinion but I suppose they are one year deals that could in theory just be cut in camp

Do you really think you know better than Peters? You were the one saying we should trade the pick we used on Jayden.

I'll say this about the WR class . If you want one of those 6-3 6-4 guys who can still burn a a fast 4.4 or a 4.3 there might be like 3 or 4 of those guys in the draft this year. But there are a lot of interesting 6-6'2 guys who run a slower 4.4 to a fast 4.5 from middling schools that are interesting. On day three.

I still hold to that. Jayden Daniels is amazing and I said he should have been the pick if we keep it. But let not pretend that Jayden did exceed expectations by about 100X. I still hold to it that trading back for a haul in a very very hyped draft would have been smart. Yes we got a franchise QB but that doesn't change the math we just be the odds.

With an underrated WR draft it's a good time to get a discount on good prospects. Which I feel with 2 solid vets in place would be a good time to try and reach for some wr options.

Trading that pick would have been the second biggest disaster in franchise history, second only to Snyder buying the team.

Jayden exceeded expectations by 100x?

Trading that pick would have been the second biggest disaster in franchise history, second only to Snyder buying the team.

Jayden exceeded expectations by 100x?

First off yes, he absolutely exceeded expectations.

Let not have this debate in hindsight.

Because Jayden ended up being special, way more special that any one though he could be. This kid has had the single best rookie season of any player in the NFL ever and there might be only a couple of arguments for other guys that aren't that close. If he stays healthy he might be the guy that can challenge Tom and Patty for GOAT status. Look at what he did with the very not good WR core, sub par RB room and a TE room that was held together by a 35 year old vet, and a suspect OL. This kid is generationally good.

But let's not pretend like every one knew that at the time. They didn't, I didn't, you didn't, no one did. I said ever chance I got if we don't trade back the picks Jayden all day. I didn't like his age and how skinny he was. But other than that hes a dog and the talents there. I was never a Williams guy.

Taking it back to the time, where maybe the bear wise up and didn't take Kaleb, where we knew this was going to be a generationally good draft. That isn't hind sight we knew there were 5 or 6 potentially good starting QBs we knew the WR depth was almost day three deep with potential starters. We knew the OL depth was fantastic. Trading back for a historical haul in a historically hyped draft was a good idea at the time.

We got lucky that Jayden ended up in the right place with the right HC, in the right offense and was so much more special than anyone dreamed he'd be. That doesn't change the math on the logic then.

I agree I wouldn't do it in hinde sight but no one saw this kid coming on like this.
I'm not saying I know more than peters. He's done great but he's done great by gambling big and it paying off at an unusually high percentage. I don't think enough was done to upgrade the WR and RB rooms yet. Brown, Osbourne, Mcnichols are guys you can find on the street in December of you need bodies. Maybe they are SB loaded camp deals as thank yous for all they did last year. That's fine but we need some upgrades.

I think and hope we trade out of the first round this year. This draft is deep as hell with starting caliber edge talent and starting caliber RB talent. We can capitalize by trading back and regaining the assets that we lost in trades.

So inst as of debating any of the points I made. You post a video of a guy saying Caleb Williams is better than Jayden Daniels? Just because he used the word special doesn't mean he predicted this. Any one who says they did is a bold faced liar. You had people live on ESPN and FS1 predicting the bears could make win play off games with Caleb. Not one soul was thinking Jayden was gonna pull the commanders out the mud the way he did, and I was on the Jayden train if we kept the pic. I made pasta about how the bears would be smart to not take Caleb. But come on, we can be happy that we ended up with maybe the heir to the goat throne. But still be realistic about what the situation was then.

The only valid point you have is the one on your hat. QB is the most important position in football by a mile. When you have a chance to take a franchise QB you take it, you don't trade down. This is basic common sense. Just look at all the teams looking around desperately for a QB.

You were so far off base you said we should punt on drafting a QB last year, in a historically strong QB draft, and draft one this year instead.

The Commanders success wasn't all Jayden. Peters signed a lot of good players under the radar which also contributed. Biadisz, Luvu, Wagner etc.

The incompetence in Chicago is a separate issue.

So after free agency it looks like the draft priorities are (in no particular order):

1.) A more dynamic (speed) RB
2.)Edge
3.) Speed receiver
4.) Cornerback

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I might put Safety over CB since they have what they hope to be a solid group in Lattimore/Sanristil/Igbo, but they lost Chinn. And given Deebo's playmaking ability, I'm leaning towards hoping for this on draft night:

1. Edge
2. Safety
3. OL depth

I do think they have to also replace what Zaccheus brought, but they might be able to fill that with a signing or cheap trade around cutdown day.
