The Ref's gifted the Thunder that game. Just about every drive Cade made he was fouled and most were not called yet SGA was able to get calls sometimes without even being touched. It sure appears the NBA definitely has an agenda. That is all on Silver and his goon refs..
Tonight Shai shot 10 free throws.
5 were free throws off techs because the Pistons got themselves on the ref's bad side. 2 were an intentional foul at the end of the game. He got 2 free throws on a drive where Holland hooked his arm around Shai's. He got a 1 on an And1 where Ausar put his arm out in front of him as he was driving.
So he got free throws twice while shooting 26 times.
Did you watch the same game, this wasn't just SGA, but the Ref's doing a horrible job overall. Go on Reddit and you will see everyone except OKC fans screaming about the Biased Ref's. Ref called flagrant foul for someone landing on SGA's foot then called one when nobody touched SGA. It was that blatant. Bickerstaff is justified in his response.
Yes I watched the game.
The Pistons were giving up a lot of undisciplined fouls.
The first call you are talking about is when Dort landed on SGA's foot and hurt his groin. It never got called a flagrant foul. On that play Cade pushed Dort back with his forearm as he was driving (but not full arm extension so no foul) and unfortunately Dort landed on SGA's foot. The foul actually called on the play was called was against Beef Stew because he grabbed J-Will and /spun/threw him under the basket so he couldn't rebound. They reviewed the play to check if what happened to Dort was a hostile act, and it ended up staying a common foul against Beef Stew as it should have, because Cade didn't actually commit a hostile act.
That was actually the same play that led to Cade being thrown out. The Thunder were in the bonus and J-Will was to shoot free throws because of the foul by Beef Stew. The refs almost let J-Will shoot a technical style free throw. Cade called the refs out about it, so the refs let everyone line up, but Cade kept yapping at them as J-Will was about to shoot the free throw. Soft technical against Cade, but he brought it on himself. Then he and Schroeder kept complaining to the refs, even with one of the Pistons support staff trying to stop Cade. Soft ejection that spoiled the game a bit, but it was all self inflicted.
I am not sure which specific play you are talking about for the second one. At one point in the game there was a foul called for Shai that got overturned by challenge. That play was Ausar extending his arm and putting his hand in Shai's gut while Shai pushed off Ausar and they also banged knees. The ref that called the foul could only see Ausar put his hand on Shai from her angle.
Shai drew 2 other fouls in the game. One was Tobias grabbing at Shai as he got beaten by the drive. Shai immediately threw up a shot and didn't get the shooting foul (He was doing the 'Look refs, I got fouled, call it' routine). I can see how that one would annoy people because it isn't a natural shooting motion, but the issue is that it took throwing up the shot to prompt the refs in to calling the foul at all. The second one was a Shai drive where Duren jumped from A-B near the rim taking Shai out on his pass out to J-Will (who hit the 3 and had the shot wiped away because of the foul).
By the way, Reddit is a terrible place to try and source viewpoints from. The entire website makes a hobby of getting swept up in narratives and searching out for things to complain about. They very rarely give examples of the perceived grievances they have and often when they do, they are flatly wrong. Case in point is the Jaylen Brown foul on Shai from a few days ago that spawned this very thread, where everyone on reddit was saying it was no foul.
