I’m not sure that means he learned anything. You can’t use the Williams situation as a lesson on how to negotiate with Giddey. His agent will destroy and laugh at that argument. Williams had done basically nothing and was paid on pure potential.
That could result in paying more than you would have if you didn’t make him seek an outside offer or it could make him take the qualifying offer. Bulls really hold no cards here if keeps playing this way. They are gonna end paying him $25 million plus this offseason or watch him become an unrestricted free agent that can’t be traded.
I would say 5 years/$175 million with a player option on the 5th year is lowest outcome right now.
