Tooling around White and Giddey, I project the Bulls to have a very rapid rebuild.

Key of success: remove high usage chuckers with mediocre efficiency who play no defense.

Not like Giddey, White are some good defenders, but at least fadeaway long 2s are gone

Like... wow they really needed that Mark Williams trade to happen. Just had no rim protection or presence whatsoever.

Are they desperate enough to take WCJ for Reaves? lol

we can only pray

There is logic for it...we'd certainly have to add a pick. Reaves is a really exceptional passer...he'd be a really good target and he's on a great deal (I think he really wants to be LAL for life, but he'd have a great opportunity to spread his wings here).

PS ...Luka is SO damn good. I can always rationalize or empathize with the vision behind a trade but DAL really screwed the pooch. I fully believe it's ownership fearing the supermax and 2nd Apron, but they're really flirting with fan mutiny on this one. He's a lot more than just friends with Mose - you can see they're very close.

It's an important win. Specifically at home. Which felt like we were one of the harder teams to build.

As I have kept saying, the DNA of Paolo + Franz are not those of quiet quitters. They will continue to win.

CoJo deserves to be overstated. You get 1 player to slightly let the pressure off the valve and allow everyone to get into a rhythm. Once shots start falling, the team starts to believe.

Shoutout to Houstan who is shooting 35% of the year and seems to have found a niche where he goes in, shoots a few 3s and makes them on a team desperate for points.

I also feel like he’s played respectable defense.

CoJo is not the savior (obviously) but he reveals, in a small sample size, what a true PG does and the effect it has on the whole team. Paolo does not need to dribble between his legs 5x on the perimeter on every possession. If you don't think he likes when he can establish position against a mismatch (just about any single cover in the NBA) and a guy on the perimeter just drops a pass into his sweet spot for that automatic midrange turnaround - you're missing something. Getting Franz and Paolo better shots will only ADD to their threat as they don't have to (always) make their own opportunities. Depending on the matchup in the scenario above, it's almost a guaranteed foul or and-1 opportunity...the perimeter iso stuff is what will make them both playoff destroyers...but increased ball movement and the better shots will keep defenses off their spots and on their heels all season...and, most importantly, bring the rest of the team into the offensive scheme. It will only compound the gravity, the and-1's, the defensive chaos in the opposition, and also the quality of open shots from Paolo and Franz' kickouts to the perimeter and drop-offs to the dunker spot. Lobs are a very telling indicator of an offense getting a defense out of position ...it just leads to mistakes and easy, demoralizing buckets. We rarely see those unless it's one of those "charmed" games where the defense is just running the other team out of the building and turning turnovers into 3 on 1 breaks.

You are just so very correct. In the meantime, give Cojo a beer and oxygen, possibly both stat. Cojo isn't "the answer" but I do believe the minutes he is on the floor allows us to establish an offensive rhythm that carries over and doesn't make the entire offense 100% ISO from the get go.

Very good win. Paolo's jumper has looked fantastic lately, a very encouraging sign. Also good to see Black with another strong game. Making 3s at a good rate as usual changes everything for our team. Kudos to Cory Joseph for stepping up and doing a solid job as a starter given his age and that he was signed mostly to be a vet presence in the lockerroom.

If you want this, just start Black at PG and shift Suggs to SG. I am not convinced, but Black >> Joseph.
(( we are never gonna agree about an upgrade of SG vs. PG, I fear )).

But I know we agree on this, whatever the question, Anthony is not the Answer.

I don't think that Black is a better PG than CoJo.

I don't even think that Black is a PG

Black is a better, more valuable player than CoJo overall, but he couldn't replace him at PG, imo. My point was "see what even a mediocre TRUE PG can do? Imagine what a full-time, younger, better one could do"...basically same idea I had with an expiring Schroder experiment and, back a few years, an expiring Tyus Jones experiment...none of those guys are the dream starter, but would've been interesting (as it currently is with CoJo) to see what a PG looks like on this team (which many of us - including me - had previously believed we DIDN'T need, but now understand that we do). Even a solid part-timer off the bench to "order" things when they get stuck in mud, would be a big win. That scenario still allows us to play KCP/Suggs, with Paolo & Franz as the primary ballhandlers...until it flounders. Then we bring in a real PG and get things moving. Depending on the matchups and P&F's (and, to some extent, Suggs') progress, that bench PG might play very little or very much - as needed. Black's not that guy - Tyus or Chris Paul, etc might be "better CoJo's", but not necessarily a major shift or financial commitment to our roster.

Or just upgrade our starting lineup with a PG who can also shoot and score...like the guys we discuss all day (Simons, Sexton, Coby, CJ, Reaves, Herro...)

An exaple of where we are very differnt minded, in my opinion. When the Magic signed their 15th FA, there was a CLEAR need in my opinion for a major back-up SF. And instead the Magic signed a 4th-string PG.

Why?

My god, to have da Silva be a major minutes guy over Howard (and Houstan) is a statement of management self-inflected errors.

Eh gads.

I have never believed that Joseph should be on this roster. At all.
I don't care if he is a "better" PG than Black or not. Having 4 "PGs" is a ridiculous failure of management in asset generation.

This roster was imbalanced from day-1. WePark failed the 2024/25 Orlando Magic from opening night. I stand by that statement.

We've got guys you and the basketball card guys are calling "Point Guards" that just aren't...CoJo might be the only real PG on the roster.

Black and Suggs have exceptional playmaking and ball handling for any position other than PG...if they were really PGs, they're profoundly lacking in PG skills

CoJo isnt even a pure PG, but he's so much better at being a PG than anyone else on our roster that I wouldnt blame anyone for calling him that

One thing he does really well is how he spaces, its all very intentional, he will move without the ball in the proper way

I've noticed that too...for example, how he'll wait just a beat for the help defender to commit before making a pass...just little subtle things that say "PG" instincts - beyond just dribbling the ball up and handing it to the two kings.
