Barring misconduct/legal issues it has to be he just completely lost the locker room for whatever reason.

Second best coach in the league? Mazzulla!? How? Why?

I know I've stopped listening to their podcast for a while now, cause some of the dumbest **** I've ever heard came from them but damn...

Think I read somewhere that Memphis is kinda like the Bucks in that they get just waxed by good teams but do really well against the dregs. OKC going on an absolute tear the other night against them might've just been the final straw. But does anybody really think Memphis is anything more than a 2nd round team at best? Think the franchise winds up with egg on their face here.

This. Dame won't be back this season so convince Doc this saves him the embarrassment of getting whooped in the playoffs. Don't care if this saddles us with a dummy as POBO. A new GM and a good coach can overcome that. We don't have any more assets to burn anyways.

Huh, that's interesting. Dale Sveum is taking over as interim head coach.

I wonder what Giannis and Brook's relationship with Jenkins was.

Didn't they fire his entire staff in the offseason? I think they know he is widely respected but the players have wanted him out for a while.

Ja has played 59 of the Grizz' last 175 games and hasn't done well during those 59.

Mem has massively overachieved under him and it speaks more to the organization than him.

Yeah, this is my suspicion as well. That's a volatile locker room with some strong personalities. And Jenks is no shrinking violet in his own right.

We need to get him before one of these other underperforming-but-talented teams goes after him.

He's a rookie. There's no point going back and forth about his individual stats night to night. He's flashing traits and abilities on the court that can translate to future success on the court. Abilities none of the previous Horst 1st rounders since Donte have shown. HIs first step and speed are already elite. There's more there than what the box score leads one to believe.

i would argue that the thing he is flashing the most is elite athleticism, which is what everyone already knew he had even pre draft. and it's also important to understand the context of the "flashes." this isn't quite pre season level defense, but when you flash (and still putting up terrible lines) against the Phillys and Torontos of the world in late March, it's not that impressive.

if i'm Washington, obviously I'm excited, because you tend to dream with prospects. you ignore all the flaws and just automatically assume they will get fixed. glass half full mindset (it took me until last year to accept that Giannis wouldn't hit 3s). but this glass is like 1/10th full and many are acting like it's about to pour over and lay waste to downtown Milwaukeee.

i'm cool with it. yes, it would have been nice to have that lottery ticket. if it hits, we extend the Giannis window. but the chances aren't good and it's mostly a mirage.

I get that this a players' league now where you're basically done as soon as the star guy loses faith in you, but Ja and Devin Booker level guys would be where I draw the line. Are those really the kind of players you want to risk nuking your stability/culture over?

I'm really at a loss. Can't believe anyone would fire their coach when they're overachieving and just a couple of games back from the #2 spot in the West

11-18 since the break, many games without Ja (again). The timing is odd though.

W-L isn't everything as we know from firing Adrian Griffin when we had the second best record in the NBA.

Memphis fans aren't shedding any tears over Jenkins' dismissal.
