No because we won 50 games back to back in years which no other coach has done

Thibs isn’t going anywhere regardless of what happens in the playoffs. We just gave him a big extension.

Do you think if this season ends with the team getting humiliated in round 2 by Boston, Tom's job is safe? He's been outcoached by Mazzula and Atkinson badly this season. As much as we point out how Mikal has been trash against good competition, we can't ignore the fact that Tom looks completely lost when coaching against teams that play modern ball

in how many of those games was the team whole?

Back to back 50 win seasons. 50-28 overall

Here's a breakdown of our record

42-6 vs Teams with losing records
8-22 vs Teams with winning records

84% of our wins have come vs losing teams
16% of our wins have come vs winning teams

Unfortunately in the playoffs we play winning teams

But nonetheless, BEST MID TEAM IN THE NBA!!!

I can't find the usual wins prediction thread (did we have one?), but I thought we'd hit 60 wins in the beginning I believe. The Brunson injury killed any chance of that. But this is a 60 win team on paper. I just don't know if they've got the f you mentality to win it all. The talent is there.

Well, melo is a Celtics fan, so that's kind of his dream

Actually, now I can see why he likes Thibs. Cause Thibs ain't ever doing anything in the playoffs, meaning the team he hates so much for trading away his favorite player will always lose to his favorite team if they meet

Things make more sense now.

I think you have gone too far, to put it simple if we somehow achieve further than previous seasons (ECF for example), then that means it's right to get rid of Randle

But if not, hey I told you so it was a wrong trade.

Thibs says no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are way too close to the 4th best record in the entire NBA, which likely means home court advantage in the NBA Finals. I really don't think OKC is going to make it to the Finals. I say we go for it without having to play any of our guys 40+ minutes in regulation.

stuporman wrote:Is it true the Knicks have had 'all' their pieces...meaning the starting 5 and the top 4 bench pieces of Mitch, Precious, Deuce, Cam all playing together for a total of 4 games this season? Yet they are all finally ready now for the playoffs.

I don't think Mitch and Precious are meant to play together in Thibs' eyes

I checked the box scores. There have been exactly 13 games that both KAT and Mitch have played the same game. Precious has either gotten a DNP or very little playing time

game 1: 4 minutes and 21 seconds
game 2: DNP
game 3: DNP
game 4: 5 minutes exactly
game 5: 8 minutes and 50 seconds
game 6: 10 minutes and 22 seconds
game 7: 10 minutes and 1 second
game 8: 7 minutes and 9 seconds
game 9: 11 minutes and 52 seconds
game 10: 7 minutes and 58 seconds
game 11: 6 minutes and 25 seconds
game 12: 10 minutes and 54 seconds
game 13: DNP

Precious is a 3rd string center or a starting power forward (only alongside KAT) in the event that OG is out. OG only gets extended minutes when one of either KAT or Mitch is out.

Precious did not develop enough of a jumper or offensive game to allow Thibs to play him on the offensive end alongside Mitch. Precious has been as great as he can be for us as an undersized center, or power forward in limited situations.

Come playoff time, I think Payne will back up Brunson, Deuce will take up most of the minutes backing up Mikal, Josh, and OG, and Mitch will fully back up KAT (and maybe play alongside him depending on matchups with Cleveland or Boston).

Shamet might see a few minutes, but the reality is that McBride has a longer wing span than Shamet, even though Shamet is 2 inches taller. I feel we are better off giving McBride close to 30 minutes a game in the playoffs then having him play half of that just to fit in other guys off the bench.

not to triple post on main but one last thing: as someone who thinks thibs is overly criticized by people unwilling to blame the players for their own lack of success, i agree that if we get embarrassed or outed early in the playoffs (which means anything fewer than 7 games in round 2) we should start actively looking to change the head coach. leon cashed the chips in, and now the roster can only be improved in the margins. so if there is a roster/HC mismatch, the logical step is to adjust the one that isn't constrained by the CBA

(I'm trusting Spree2Houston's numbers, I was too lazy to do them myself.)

Quite interesting that even setting aside the 0-8 against the top 3 teams, the Knicks are still just 8-14 against the rest of the over .500 teams.

the main issue i've seen with this team is that they don't know how to stop runs when the opposing team gets hot from 3

Not to mention the injuries....someone mentions the current healthy linuep has only played together for 4 games....

Who has been training OG and teaching him these new moves? Crossing over guys with ease now.

Burner hits another clutch 3 but don't be surprised when he doesn't win Clutch player of the year

KAT gets fouled every **** time he drives and never gets called! Hope Thibs is sending those tapes to Silver

I like this 9 rotation but Shammy needs to hit his shots or else I'd go with Wright but I do think Thibs will go 8 deep in the playoffs

50 wins second straight season is something to be really proud about. Haven't done that since FrozenEnvelope was talking **** to bangwagon Bulls fans in middle school  Sad that some of you will be unhappy cause Kolek didn't play smh funny how some who admitted to rooting for losses now wanna act happy

Booker has the most aesthetically pleasing game to watch in the league. No fail baiting, all pure skill. OG is the best defender in the league and Booker was giving him the business. Just a great player! **** KD! Can we get Booker instead?
