Cleveland is at Indiana tonight. A Pacers' loss means they cannot catch New York.

The Magic visit that follows is on a BtB for them. Maybe both teams should just play their G-league rosters?????

Pacers would have to win out with Knicks losing out to pass them. Knicks have tiebreaker.

Aside from Memphis- Wolves, Memphis- Nuggets and Warriors v Clippers ( maybe ) for rest of a way, nothing is worth watching.

I did not expect Wolves vs Grizzlies to look like this.
And oh boy Memphis team is frustrating to watch.

Nothing in this game made sense for them. Wolves have Gobert, Gobert hates defending perimeter. But no, you stick with Edey, who spent 30 min with 4 shots taken, 0 assists, who allows Gobert to camp below rim and act as rim protector because he has virtually zero reasons to ever leave restricted area, and in same time you gain nothing from Edey because you don't look to find him.

Matter of fact you don't even protect him on defensive end, rather allow Julius Randle to burn him on isos where Edey can't move feet fast enough.

Jaren Jackson, 6'10, 250. 37 min. 1 rebound. Gtfo. And that's a guy who thinks he should be DPOY.

Watching Morant & Edey pick&roll was travesty within travesty of a game. Either one, or both don't grasp what's the point of pick&roll. Morant goes right, shifts to his left, in near every set, Edey neither attacks rim nor is ready to set another screen, rather just distracts Morant from bursting.

Oh hell with it, i can show it

Image

This is start of screen, as contact is set, Morant rejects screen and shifts to his right. This is probably good decision because if he goes to his right, Gobert will have to switch on him, as Edey cuts to a rim on massive miss match ? Right.

Oh well.

Image

Edey needs ages to move, allowing Gobert to adjust, allowing DD to recover. Neither have to guard Edey because guy literally didn't move for past 2 seconds.

And this is where drafting this massive, massive guys is problematic. For every Victor there is Edey, who killed college hoops but simply is too slow for nba. It's not like guy is not skilled. He is. But it is very hard to use him against good teams. Sure, he will kill Duren-less Pistons or G league Hornets team, but last night, when their season was on the line, watching him for 30 min was pure pain.

Well: starters Sam Merrill, Ty Jerome, and Dean Wade of the Cavs didn't have enough against full strength Indiana.
and
full-strength Knicks played aweful agaist full-strength Detroit.

The Pacers' dream of the 3-seed is mathematically alive for one more day.

That said: Indiana clinched the 4-seed and that might be fine (home court round one; likely road series in round 2 for either the 3 or 4 seed). And Indy is on a BtB.

So: to get to 41 wins, I project the Magic's scrubs need to have a strong game against the Pacers' scrubs.

I can't wait!

Knicks record vs good teams is embarrassing. 15-22 vs above .500 teams. Lucky for them 9/14 teams on East have negative record

Atlanta won and looks to have the tie-breaker against the Bulls and Heat.
It is nearly certain that Atlanta will go 8, but ....

Atlanta's final SOS: 0.400 (Philly and Orlando)

then

Chicago's final SOS: 0.256 :o (Wash and Philly)
which is over
Miami's final SOS: 0.238  (New Orleans and Wash)

(( for comparison: Orlando's final SOS: 0.544 (Indy and Atlanta) ))

In epic 49 point loss to Miami, two Pelicans starters had plus minus of -58 and -56

That is worst i have ever seen.

Btw Kings vs Bulls. Story of liberation from stat padding garbage vs addition of cancer to a team.

Game 82 is literally pointless for all postseason Eastern teams.

Remarkably: all 1-10 slots are known before a game is played.

You want competitive basketball tonight: watch a western conference game.

Clippers vs Warriors was first playoff game of a season. Harden, Kawhi, Zu sent Warriors to play in.

Houston vs Warriors ( probable) will be lot of fun as well. Both teams are chippy and bit dirty on defense. Brooks vs Green
OKC will smash whoever comes at 8#
Lakers vs Wolves. Gobert will be huge factor in this one. Lakers have no C.
Nuggets vs Clippers will be my favorite series to watch. Neither teams has much of a bench, both teams are top heavy. Assuming Goron will be on Kawhi, who da hell will cover Harden for Nuggets? Westbrook? :o

Another thing to watch, if 76ers don't land top 6 pick, that pick goes to OKC, because they really need more talent  But 76ers secured 64% chances at keeping it.

I still can't wrap my head about Rockets decision to play starters. You believe you are better than Nuggets, but why? They are only team you could face with championship core, they split series vs you, and they have best player on the planet who you aren't equipped to guard.
And after all that, they are beating you by 30 midway through 3rd as your starters really don't want to get hurt and avoid physicality.
Good luck beating Warriors team that won 23 of last 30 games in a series where 2/3 best players on the court will be opposing players.

Pelicans Expected To Hire Joe Dumars As Lead Basketball Executive

What a f**** ?

Can we return team to Seattle ?
NBA doesn't need expansion, they need league reduction to 20 competitive teams.
