This is the problem with the fire Thibs bandwagon. Especially given that our depth should be better next season, minimizing the need for Thibs to go full Thibs.

He’s a top 10 guy who the locker room loves, so unless we can get a top 5 guy who would fit even better, are we actually improving or just making a change to make a change?

Not making the conference finals during Thibs tenure at the Knicks is a fair criticism of him, although to be fair, he cannot be blamed for last season's second round exit due to an extremely rotten luck of injuries to the Knicks.

Part of the Knicks problem is other East teams (aside from the Cavs) are getting better and the Knicks still seem to be in bit of a holding pattern with their coach and roster.

If you bomb out in the first round, I am pretty sure Thibs will be fired

Guess we'll have to see how the playoffs shake out, things are coming together nicely for us :dontknow:

It would be great for the NBA if that happens, but it's hard to imagine given they are winless against the Cavs and Celtics this season.

Is it that hard to imagine? Plenty of those games were very close until we gassed, but we only had our full top 7 for one of those...an OT loss in Brunson's 2nd game back after injury...and 5 of those 8 games were either the 2nd night of a b2b or our 3rd game in 4 nights; neither of which happen in the playoffs.

Not saying it's likely, but is your imagination really so limited that you can't imagine the knicks maintaining their A-game for 4 full matches instead of running out of steam in the 4th? Nevermind the possibility of the Celtics going icecold for a series...like we've seen them do before...Cleveland getting overwhelmed by the bright lights and a tougher team, or the knicks hitting a new peak as they finally get healthy for the first time all year.

Wut? This isn't the Pistons you're talking about lol

This will be Cleveland's 4th consecutive post season.

The Knicks have lost the games, yes, but have proven to be competitive. No team will breeze through the Knicks. I fully expect them to put a good fight against anyone and I believe everything is possible.

5 of them were blowouts. They lost by >15pts on average
That is not competitive

Someone bought them some tickets?

Knicks will be fortunate just to get out of the first round

Exactly, that's how we know we know that Allen & Garland are soft & choke under playoff pressure ;-)

5 blowouts? 4 of them were close games in the 4th quarter...despite 5 of those being the 2nd night of a b2b or our 3rd game in 4 nights. And the only one of those games that our full top 7 played in, went to OT.

Yeah, I'm sure 17 ppg, 13.8 rpg, and 2.3 stocks on 67.6% FG is considered 'choking' lmao

He sure was a game-changer for you down in Orlando :P

Hopefully this year he stays healthy so he can finally play more than 5 playoff games. This postseason will be a lot more fun if this conference can avoid the injuries that ravaged it last year.

Celtics fans are really hoping hard for that to happen, huh? Didn't have as much fun playing us with OG & Mitch on the court, did you? :D

I mean 3 of the games weren't. Now 1 of those was opening night, and the other two came right around the ASB with us on short rest...all of them before Robinson got back...so how much we should take from those games vs the others is a matter of perspective. But we haven't been competitive in all 8, just in 5 of them.

Luckily there's no b2bs or 3 games in 4 days, and we're finally healthy. If we can take care of the Pistons without any new injuries and Brunson finds his rhythm for round two, the celtics might just catch the best version of these Knicks yet.

Brunson is s great competitor so i wont deny that will makes the Knicks a tough playoff out. But i find the Knicks cant solve all the equations in the playoffs. The Celtics can do the rocket sceince to win a chip and the Knicks aren't there yet

I can agree with that. Donavan Mitchell having a bad ankle heading into the playoffs is less than ideal.

If OG can play like how he has in march/april, they have a chance. towns on defense and brunson's size loom over this teams success. if they can minimize these two things, I can see it happen. They have the wingplay to otherwise matchup with the celtics on th closeout. brunson flopping can equalize a couple of the games to offset all the 3 pointers from boston

I think pretty much all Celtics fans would look forward to playing the Knicks in the 2nd round. That would easily be a 4-5 game series. 6 games if absolutely everything went wrong for the Celtics.

Yeah, hopefully he can get that right because that Indy series could be a lot of fun for us neutrals if you're both firing on all cylinders. Shame that the season isn't just 60-70 games over the same time frame. The NBA playoffs are slowly turning into the NBA/NFL, where it's as much about which top team has the best injury luck as it is about how they stack up against one another at their best.

Thankfully NBA refs aren't as bad as NHL refs about helping underdogs "level the playing field" or "slow teams down", but the regular season is just too much of a slog. It's time to trim the fat.

You sure y'all aren't starting to feel a little nervous about what would happen if after everyone picked you to repeat, you went out and lost to the team you swept in the regular season now that they're healthy and not on their 3rd game in 4 nights? ;-)

Cause you're not the first Celtics fan I've noticed hoping that the knicks don't even make it to round two.
