I mean put a deal in front of me and maybe? But I'm assuming unless you get stupid Minnesota would match any reasonable offer and I would expect Naz to give them that opportunity. And of course Memphis literally can match any reasonable offer. Yes, Brooklyn can put some timing pressure on them but the more team friendly you make the deal, the more likely Memphis figures out how to match.

I think if you really liked Aldama, you offer him something that starts over the full MLE, but declines as you suggest, and call Memphis and say normally you would pay us for the TPE, but we are going to give you a 2nd to trade him to us so we can structure it more attractively.

But even then I'm probably passing. I want my stars in place before I start locking up long-term role players that may or may not be good fits.

Normally i would agree with you but several factors make this a good move to make to me

1) rising cap makes a front loaded deal even more of a bargain in future years
2) the teams are hard pressed to match so wont need to overpay that much
3) no other team with capspace = no bidding war
4) stretch bigs are not exactly available in abundance. If it was a combo guard sure but a stretch 4/5 is harder to find.

Aldama lack of strong D will cap him out as your 5th best starter even with more improvement. I just don't like locking in those type of guys when you still don't even have a single building block in place in Brooklyn. Especially in a destination market that can really leverage their cap space in a possible star free agent signing. Now if you can get either guy on a deal that is universally seen as a bargain due to their unique market position then I could see it since then they are playable liquid assets. Just dubious that they sign either guy to such a sweet heart deal but I would target Naz ahead of Aldama since his D is good enough to keep him on the floor in more lineups.

BRK should make a 22M AV offer to one of Reid or Santi. With the rising cap that amount will only be 11-12% of the cap sheet. That is reasonable money even if you project those guys to be 4th / 5th starter caliber. Each also brings a much in demand skillset as a stretch big. Throw in they can front load and I think its a smart move by BRK. Santi and Naz are ideal shooting bigs to play off a star.

Edey
JJJ/Aldama
Wells
Bane
Ja/Pippen Jr

I feel pretty good about that 7. Not sure what to make of Vince and GG, but ideally you keep both as they are super cheap. Huff too is super cheap as a backup center. One more guy I really feel confident of in a playoff rotation is what I am after.

Clarke/Konchar for me become the matching salary and I really want a wing. So maybe Cam Johnson? Use some future draft capital as the incentive?

Yeah, this is exactly what I'd do.

At the end of the day I don't necessarily expect this to be successful in the playoffs, because the top of the roster simply doesn't hold up past a 1st or maybe 2nd round exit level. I don't think Ja is THAT GUY to be the top player and neither of Bane/JJJ are that guy either to really build it around. BUT Ja is talented enough, young enough, and signed for long enough that I'd give him another shot, maybe two. Fans are quick to teardown but that seldom works out in practice because rebuilding is really hard. I usually lean in favor of running it into the ground.

The one intriguing thing might be if MIL takes a Giannis/Ja centered deal. That's probably the golden ticket for MEM.

 this is the first time you've ever thought a proposed trade for Memphis was ok.

you completely rip off Milwaukee in this proposal and your reaction is "um this would ok I guess". Hilarious.

I am glad you are enjoying are interaction. What is the deference in value in your expert view? JJJ and 5 1sts?

At minimum your adding all the picks and swaps avaliable to a Ja / Edey for Giannis move. Likely as many of Pippen, GG, Vince as MIL demands as well.

And I still dont think that would be the best deal.

Then I prefer Memphis to be out of the conversation. Ja alone is more entertaining skill-wise than guys like LeBron or Giannis, even bundled together. Both are just ordinary street players without their physicality and athleticism. And I don’t give a slightest @@@@ about the rings or other NBA prizes that are always totally under control of corporate lizards. They can wipe their @@@@ with them.

give us back OUR team.

All jokes aside seriously though I do think Memphis could put together a very competitive offer for Gianni.

You love Ja and that's cool I get fandom, but I'm not sure he's viewed with such rosy glasses around the league. Talented player, highlight reel athlete, who carries a ton of risk in my opinion. I think he'll retire before Gianni or fall off a cliff sooner. Let me know if/when I'm wrong.
