Because a lot of this is wrong. The “ran KD out of town” being chief among them. KD had one foot out the door. That is what led to the blow up with Draymond, not the other way around. Draymond was ticked that KD was moody and ready to leave and he let him know about it. As a Heat fan, I’d get prepared for this as you seem the next likely KD landing spot. Incredible player, but only wants things on his terms now.
The Poole situation was unfortunate, but similar to the KD thing, Poole had a shaky attitude as well. Got paid and thought he was now the #2 guy behind Steph and could do what he wanted. Like KD, Dray’s job is to be the bad guy and say the things that need saying that class guys like Steph and Igudola don’t. With Poole, he took it too far. But Poole’s start in DC showed the attitude he was displaying his last days in GS. Luckily, he seems to have grown from it. Some extended time in NBA Siberia will do that.
As a Heat fan, you should know Dray and Jimmy are alike is they don’t butt heads with Alphas on the court. They butt heads with Betas. Jimmy and Dray are both Alphas. They won’t beef. They’ll hunt Betas together
I'm going off of KD's own words though
Nowhere in there did he put it on Draymond. He literally said it wasn’t the argument, but how the FO handled it. (BS imo, but I digress). The fact they did this podcast crapping on the FO so neither of them could take the blame shows those two are fine.
Everything KD has done since leaving GS has been for one purpose - show he can win a title on his terms. He won two playing under how GS does it.
Like I said, you Heat fans are probably going to learn first hand soon. My advice? Tell Riley and Spolstra not to play the whole “we’re in charge/Heat Culture” card. Won’t end well
KD left because he couldn’t take the criticism from teenage LeBron fans on social media. He was already gone when he had the contretemps with Green, which imo was mainly about KD not informing the franchise of his decision, on which Green’s next contract was contingent. Something similar may have been involved in the Poole thing although that was completely indefensible.
The 2016 thing was fraudulent, although he was of course personally responsible for all the preceding tech fouls. LeBron may have screwed himself however, the team was peeved about the Green suspension and what they perceived as favouritism on the part of the NBA hence the Hamptons Five and the recruitment of KD, utterly crushing any further Cavs endeavours by LeBron. No way does KD join GSW had they won the title, and they could have been really good with a less elite SG but not possibly the best team of all time. I am still a big KD fan and agree about his motivation post GSW, but doubt his hopes would ever have come to fruition even without the Achilles’ injury, he needs a playmaker of sufficient stature that he will allow him to playmake, and is not really a leader. 1a or 1b (depending on personal opinion) next to Curry was about as ideal a situation as could have existed for him imo.
Green’s role on the team is also crucial as has been said, and he is more or less the emotional heart of the team, although Jimmy seems to have enough determination/competitive fire for a whole team himself. Green is also a fabulous defensive player and all the GSW title winning teams have been elite defensively, significantly due to him.
