Because a lot of this is wrong. The “ran KD out of town” being chief among them. KD had one foot out the door. That is what led to the blow up with Draymond, not the other way around. Draymond was ticked that KD was moody and ready to leave and he let him know about it. As a Heat fan, I’d get prepared for this as you seem the next likely KD landing spot. Incredible player, but only wants things on his terms now.

The Poole situation was unfortunate, but similar to the KD thing, Poole had a shaky attitude as well. Got paid and thought he was now the #2 guy behind Steph and could do what he wanted. Like KD, Dray’s job is to be the bad guy and say the things that need saying that class guys like Steph and Igudola don’t. With Poole, he took it too far. But Poole’s start in DC showed the attitude he was displaying his last days in GS. Luckily, he seems to have grown from it. Some extended time in NBA Siberia will do that.

As a Heat fan, you should know Dray and Jimmy are alike is they don’t butt heads with Alphas on the court. They butt heads with Betas. Jimmy and Dray are both Alphas. They won’t beef. They’ll hunt Betas together

I'm going off of KD's own words though

Nowhere in there did he put it on Draymond. He literally said it wasn’t the argument, but how the FO handled it. (BS imo, but I digress). The fact they did this podcast crapping on the FO so neither of them could take the blame shows those two are fine.

Everything KD has done since leaving GS has been for one purpose - show he can win a title on his terms. He won two playing under how GS does it.

Like I said, you Heat fans are probably going to learn first hand soon. My advice? Tell Riley and Spolstra not to play the whole “we’re in charge/Heat Culture” card. Won’t end well

KD left because he couldn’t take the criticism from teenage LeBron fans on social media. He was already gone when he had the contretemps with Green, which imo was mainly about KD not informing the franchise of his decision, on which Green’s next contract was contingent. Something similar may have been involved in the Poole thing although that was completely indefensible.

The 2016 thing was fraudulent, although he was of course personally responsible for all the preceding tech fouls. LeBron may have screwed himself however, the team was peeved about the Green suspension and what they perceived as favouritism on the part of the NBA hence the Hamptons Five and the recruitment of KD, utterly crushing any further Cavs endeavours by LeBron. No way does KD join GSW had they won the title, and they could have been really good with a less elite SG but not possibly the best team of all time. I am still a big KD fan and agree about his motivation post GSW, but doubt his hopes would ever have come to fruition even without the Achilles’ injury, he needs a playmaker of sufficient stature that he will allow him to playmake, and is not really a leader. 1a or 1b (depending on personal opinion) next to Curry was about as ideal a situation as could have existed for him imo.

Green’s role on the team is also crucial as has been said, and he is more or less the emotional heart of the team, although Jimmy seems to have enough determination/competitive fire for a whole team himself. Green is also a fabulous defensive player and all the GSW title winning teams have been elite defensively, significantly due to him.

Two things are equally true.
Draymond has been an a-hole at times and he has cost the Warriors several times.
BUT
Lacob can't figure out a way to replace him. He might be the best defensive player in the history of the game. The Bulls and Spurs put up with Rodman, Warriors are doing the same with Draymond.

Someone said it best....."He's a necessary evil"

Why the hell is Draymond still on the Warriors?

- the 2016 Finals............ Yes I agree Lebron instigated it and it should not have been on Draymond, but Draymond did himself no favors with his bad reputation and amount of suspensions which led up to it.

- Running KD out of town. If I were Warriors Front office, I would have immediately sat down with KD and said, "KD, thanks for coming to this dinner meeting. I want to tell you that I have made the decision to trade Draymond Green. If you want him to stay and you think we can get past this, let me know. Otherwise, just tell me you don't want to be involved in these talks." ........ then I would have immediately gone back to the office, made phone calls, and shipped Draymond out. KD would have never left.

- Punching Poole... again.. how is Draymond still in a Warriors uniform.

- ... which led to trading Poole instead of Draymond.... ya'll traded Poole + 2 picks + some guys for CP3, which you then waived 1 year later. Poole has continued to ball and would have helped Steph so much.

- IF now Draymond also gets into it with Jimmy... when is enough?

- Draymond's defense and passing is not irreplaceable. He's not Rodman. Draymond is 34. When Rodman was 34, he was AVERAGING 14.9 rebounds a night with the Bulls in 1996. Draymond is averaging 5.9 rpg. Rodman never ever ran teammates out of town or cost his team wins. His antics always benefited his team, while Draymond has been an anchor, at crucial times, for Steph and the Warriors.

I would say Steph has been SADDLED by Draymond more than helped, because of all these issues. Steph is an all time GOAT, he deserved better

Curry was saved by Draymond not saddled by Draymond. Curry won no Championships without Draymond as point forward allowing Curry to play off ball.

Curry would have no championships without Draymond and would not be a much bigger star than Tray Young without Draymond. But surely Durant, Steph and Klay and Iguodala could win a championship without Draymond. My memory says we don’t get Kevin Durant without Draymond because Draymond is the guy that convinced Durant to join the Warriors so no championships for Curry without Draymond.

I prefer that the Warriors win more than 35 games but for that we need Draymond.

Old_Blue wrote:We'll give you an initial pass - since you're a Heat fan visiting here. Draymond, for all of his warts, is an essential player for the Dubs. He's the team's point forward and anchor on defense. The team has never relied on him to score. Instead, he is called upon to do all the other little things that don't show up in the box score but that contribute to winning. Draymond's versatility as a player altered the way the game is played today nearly as much as did Steph's 3 point shooting. After Draymond's emergence, the League went scrambling looking for a similar player. For a while, Ben Simmons appeared to be that guy. And then he wasn't. As for Draymond's temper, it goes with the territory. He runs hot. He's being asked to do a lot and expects the same from his teammates.

Good post but even a Heat fan should be able to understand how good of a player Draymond is. If you know the game you understand how making Draymond the point forward turned Curry into the league MVP.

He’s majorly overrated. He has a knack for making a great play every four or five games and he’s living off the past. Houston’s whole game plan is based on leaving him wide open. Think about that.

Huge Draymond fan and I think he continues to be an impactful player. I don’t hold it against him that that organization hasn’t really added the type of players to make his contributions more viable. That said, he’s probably our only piece left with any trade value sans just completely blowing it up. I also think him losing his sh*t so early yesterday gave Houston a mental edge knowing that they were able to get under his skin. Basically they did to him what he’s been doing to other teams for years.

Green needs to be traded for a center in the off season. Throw in Kuminga, get a 3rd team involved and try for Giannis or Porzingis.

Zero loyalty. Dude should've been DPOY this year. Maybe if the roster had, idk ACTUAL STARTERS (not BP & Moody) or an ACTUAL CENTER we'd be a better team.

If anything trade BP and Kuminga for a Center or try to sign Steven Adams in free agency.

The truth is, we have no young players who are "future stars," they're just young. So I'd ride or die with the OG's and then do a complete rebuild after that. We are not losing anything by trading young, easily replaceable role players.
