It's time,... NBA Termination season has begun,.... popcorn anyone?.....

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/280018/Nuggets-Name-Ben-Tenzer-Interim-General-Manager

I have to imagine that Coach Bud will land on his feet somewhere?.... :dontknow:

A couple of first impressions,...1. Hopefully no one comes around asking about Pritch or Buchanan. They have worked hard to build what we have & it isn't done yet. I hope they would stay around, but still need to keep them.

2. After firing Vogel & Budenholzer,... in back to back years,.. both after just 1 year,... Would any 'name recognition' coach take the suns job?

3. At this point,... after watching the involvement of the owners? and the current state of the roster & salary sheet, IMHO the Pels GM job might actually be more attractive than the Suns?..... thoughts?.... :dontknow:

I would prefer to keep the entire exec staff, but if a Pritchard or Buchanan depart, I would imagine the other sticks around, and they’ve developed a deep bench of execs to promote. Indy lets their assistant GM’s handle a ton of day to day talking, so a guy like Ted Wu is probably more than ready to step into a promotion.

I read the Suns don’t want to hire an established coach this time around. Probably wanting to pay less for an up and coming assistant coach since they have 40 million left on Budenholzer’s contract to pay. Also want a better player friendly coach supposedly.

Not only Bud’s contract, but they’re still paying off Vogel and Monty, to some extent.

They might be clear of Monty due to his Detroit contract. But they have a VERY SMALL set off from Vogel’s contract and largely owe that.

Mitchell huge for Miami. Many of us liked him in the draft but he never showed much for kings or raptors. Sometimes point guards just take time to develop.

Davion Mitchell played well as a rookie. Then,… just didn’t get a chance? He is very much a D first guy, who needs a shooter/scorer next to him to be effective. He got buried on the depth chart in Sac (behind Fox), & didn’t fit the roster or rotation in Tor. Was really happy to see him in Miami. He should already be everything they were hoping to get from Rozier & just didn’t? With more growth possible?

Pacers win was great. A Knicks loss was not to be, but a Lakers loss would be fun.

Rockets - Warriors shaping out to be one of those first round classics. Been a fantastic half of basketball so far in game 1.

Just a quick post for anyone interested,.... I enjoyed this.

https://hoopshype.com/lists/how-nba-defense-has-changed-over-time/

It reminds me of the type of articles written by our own Ms. Cooper. As the game has changed & is changing, it seems like the coverage is changing as well? Helping old farts like me see the chess match within the game. :D

Liked seeing Buddy's 33 points in that win. He hasn't gotten the respect he deserves after leaving here. I know the team had to go young, and he left chasing that starting role, but nobody really appreciates him the way we did.

I think Golden State may have just learned to appreciate him,... :D As Kerr said,.. the shooting was 1 thing,.. but his defense in the 4th was outstanding as well. :)

If they let him play the role that Klay played in their champ years?... with Curry being Curry,... and Jimmy being Jimmy,... and 1 last gasp from Draymond,... GS has the firepower this year to be a surprise in the west?....

My issue with the Warriors is Kerr. I think he’s arrogant. I don’t agree with his player usage over the years which limits development and talent breakouts. I think Kuminga, Moody, TJD, and others in the past have been handled wrong and would be better players on a different team.

There’s no way Buddy should be sitting the bench some games getting zero to 6 minutes of game time. I really don’t think Kerr understands that Buddy is hot and cold game to game. Buddy is also built different emotionally than other players. You keep Buddy happy and he can play as well as he did with the Pacers. Yes he is a defensive liability at times but he offsets that with being an offensive weapon from 3. I’m hoping Buddy as well as other young players get out of Golden State so they can maximize their potential.

I’m happy for Buddy and I would hope he makes it back to the Pacers some day when he’s at the point of mentally ready to be a low cost bench sharpshooter. However, in the future I don’t want to sacrifice a roster spot of a talented young player’s development opportunity like we have in Furphy, Walker, Sheppard, and Mathurin.

We are really blessed to be in a period where our coaches and veteran players are letting/helping our young players develop. We are so fortunate to have such a talented roster. While I sometimes get upset with Carlisle’s decisions I think he’s much better than the McMillan era. Also Pritchard and his people have done a better job of constructing, acquiring, and drafting the roster in recent years. I can’t wait to see how they strategize to construct next year’s roster with the looming questions of Myles free agency, backup center, and the glut of our youth.

I tend to agree with you. I'm not & have never been a fan of Kerr's coaching, or player development.

I just hope, and pray,.. that Buddy gets a ring before he retires. Don't care where,... don't care with whom. With all the 'stuff' he dealt with over the years in Sac-town, much of which we are only now getting the scoop on how bad it really was; with all the stuff said about him publicly over his first 5 or so years; to keep playing the way he played in Indiana,... and do what he has done a few times now, off the bench for GS,.... I've become a Buddy fan. Wasn't early in his career,.. but am now. Would love to see him get a chip before he calls it quits.

I like our veterans,....

I think even JJ proved his worth in the MIL series,... where Trent threw Pascal to the ground,.... the first guy up off the bench was JJ,... he calmly, but quickly walked - outside the court baseline - to stand behind our guys, specifically Pascal,... when Bobby Portis was striding from the court over to through the crowd,... on the clip on youtube,. you can clearly see JJ say,... very calmly,... something like, 'you want some of this?',... Portis looks at him, puts up both hands,... and walks away back onto the floor, apparently saying,.. 'nope,.. nope'....

In playoff basketball,... you can play so much more freely, when you got that backup,... it's good to see the whole team looking out for each other & playing tough, without taking cheap shots, or playing with physicality beyond the rules.

Considering where we were,... what? 4 seasons ago (21-22),.. 25-57, with no real path forward? I love this team!

And he is not KD who will join the team that just defeated him.
