Pacers Forever wrote:My issue with the Warriors is Kerr. I think he’s arrogant. I don’t agree with his player usage over the years which limits development and talent breakouts. I think Kuminga, Moody, TJD, and others in the past have been handled wrong and would be better players on a different team.
There’s no way Buddy should be sitting the bench some games getting zero to 6 minutes of game time. I really don’t think Kerr understands that Buddy is hot and cold game to game. Buddy is also built different emotionally than other players. You keep Buddy happy and he can play as well as he did with the Pacers. Yes he is a defensive liability at times but he offsets that with being an offensive weapon from 3. I’m hoping Buddy as well as other young players get out of Golden State so they can maximize their potential.
I’m happy for Buddy and I would hope he makes it back to the Pacers some day when he’s at the point of mentally ready to be a low cost bench sharpshooter. However, in the future I don’t want to sacrifice a roster spot of a talented young player’s development opportunity like we have in Furphy, Walker, Sheppard, and Mathurin.
We are really blessed to be in a period where our coaches and veteran players are letting/helping our young players develop. We are so fortunate to have such a talented roster. While I sometimes get upset with Carlisle’s decisions I think he’s much better than the McMillan era. Also Pritchard and his people have done a better job of constructing, acquiring, and drafting the roster in recent years. I can’t wait to see how they strategize to construct next year’s roster with the looming questions of Myles free agency, backup center, and the glut of our youth.
I tend to agree with you. I'm not & have never been a fan of Kerr's coaching, or player development.
I just hope, and pray,.. that Buddy gets a ring before he retires. Don't care where,... don't care with whom. With all the 'stuff' he dealt with over the years in Sac-town, much of which we are only now getting the scoop on how bad it really was; with all the stuff said about him publicly over his first 5 or so years; to keep playing the way he played in Indiana,... and do what he has done a few times now, off the bench for GS,.... I've become a Buddy fan. Wasn't early in his career,.. but am now. Would love to see him get a chip before he calls it quits.
I like our veterans,....
I think even JJ proved his worth in the MIL series,... where Trent threw Pascal to the ground,.... the first guy up off the bench was JJ,... he calmly, but quickly walked - outside the court baseline - to stand behind our guys, specifically Pascal,... when Bobby Portis was striding from the court over to through the crowd,... on the clip on youtube,. you can clearly see JJ say,... very calmly,... something like, 'you want some of this?',... Portis looks at him, puts up both hands,... and walks away back onto the floor, apparently saying,.. 'nope,.. nope'....
In playoff basketball,... you can play so much more freely, when you got that backup,... it's good to see the whole team looking out for each other & playing tough, without taking cheap shots, or playing with physicality beyond the rules.
Considering where we were,... what? 4 seasons ago (21-22),.. 25-57, with no real path forward? I love this team!
