 We not paying attention to the Knicks wing defenders these 2 games? The Knicks shot just as bad as the Celtics tonight lol. Knicks go up 3-0 Sat

Yeah, there is an issue where Joe isn't reading the room/momentum/situation. I know they won last year slinging the 3, but it's obvious when the team looks a bit tight and is likely to continue to whiff. That's when a good coach gets a bunch of close range shots to stop the bleeding.

Also has to go on the players too, but the coach should set the tone.

yawn. I love how Joe got none of the credit when they won and gets most of the blame when they lose. Is it Joe's fault the Jays are mental midgets? Or Holiday inexplicably forgot to defend against Brunson on that final possession? Or that Jaylen Brown didn't go after that rebound that led to the three? Or that his team forgot to shoot? Do you these geniuses think Joe is asking them to play like crap and could do anything to prevent it? Players have to play. Coaching doesn't matter in the NBA.

Holiday struggling to guard Brunson shouldn't have been news to Joe. And he's the one telling them that these rushed 3s are good shots. You can't absolve the coach when a team is playing as dumb as Boston is.

yeah, I'm sure Joe sat them down and said "guys, make sure you rush those threes k?!!" and while he was at it "Hey Jrue, I know you're one of the best defenders in the league, but in the most critical possession of the game with us up two can you please play moronic aggressive defense and allow Brunson to drive right past you forcing you to foul sending Brunson to the line to give them a lead with 12 seconds left?!" Or earlier with a 20 point lead "hey Jaylen, Tatum is going to give you the easiest pass on a 2 on 1 fast break, can you please completely whiff on that and kill our momentum?!" Then in the fourth "okay Jaylen, I'm going to need you to stand there and wait for the rebound to come to you instead of going to get it so they get the offensive rebound and resulting three, k?!"

There's absolutely nothing a coach can do in these circumstances. These are bone-headed mistakes made by players who should know better. Please enlighten me how Joe could have altered these game-changing/deciding plays.

Strange to see this from the team we saw last year in the regular season and playoffs. They’ve kind of reverted back to pre 2023 team that would blow big leads.

Some credit has to go to the Knicks defence as well. OG in particular has been locking it down.

Hopefully we get 2 back in NYC

That wasn't the first time Brunson burned Jrue. Prime Jrue would've been one of the best defenders you could've asked for to throw at Brunson and make it hard for him to work his magic, but this is a Jrue that Jalen can beat reliably...even on an off-night. If Joe hasn't figured that out yet, then he deserves to watch Jalen get whatever he wants late in these games.

And Mazulla is the one who came out after game 1 saying they took good shots...so yes, that seems to be exactly what he's telling them? Hopefully the Celtics don't fire him and he doesn't learn a thing from his mistakes, because so far in this series, Thibs has absolutely abused him and he didn't even get a TC to work on things with this group.

Players screw up some times, but Joe is the one setting his players up to fail, over & over again. Like when Thibs baited him to Hack-a-Mitch until they were in the penalty.

Jalen "Son of Rick Brunson" Brunson is unguardable on final possessions.

Seconded on Doogie. He definitely under-rated us...especially after the regular season matchups...but he's been a solid dude to go at it with.

With some homecooking going our way on those Towns & Brunson's first-half drives, they might not get a 20pt lead to blow

I don't care about that at all, I miss mostly the defence and toughness they had then.
This current team has become mental little people because they are losing to a very flawed team that they destroyed every game before. To let Towns and Bridges beat you is not serious. I could have respected losing in east finals to The Pacers who are offensively great and full of tough defenders but this is so much worse than losing to Spo, great Butler.....

Hali is also much happier to give up the ball and let Nembhard initiate actions for them. But that's why we've got both of our lockdown wings 8-)

The problem is that they have not learned the first time. i mean, you can still employ that strategy in most parts of the game but when it's not working, maybe tweak a little so you don't blow the entire lead? Ultimate choke if they go on to lose the series and ultimate clutch performance from the entire Knicks squad because getting back 20 points can't just be pinpointed to one or two players, it's everyone contributing on both ends!
If there is no basketball in heaven, i am not going.

You destroyed us badly the first two times, but the third was close in the 4th until we gassed and the 4th went to OT. And we only had Robinson for that last one that went to OT, while gelling as the season went on. These aren't the same Knicks the Celtics were able to dominate earlier in the year.

When the refs don't save you from Towns, like they did in game 1, Jalen can take it easy until crunchtime and he doesn't need to go off like he did in the opener. So we'll see if you can force Jalen to need to do more in game 3

If your team had half the tenacity of that team with Tobias Harris who won 20 games last season...or someone like Cade to turn too...this would be a very different series.

Of course, it's not like Orlando played you close for 4 games because of their tough defense and the physicality they were allowed to play with, prompting Celtics fans to celebrate Tatum's performance in that first round series...
