I'm pretty much OK with any PF, as long as they can shoot, and shoot well. If they can block shots, bonus. Also, as someone else mentioned, I want someone who is in the 6'10-11 range, instead of being another 6'7-8 guy again. Real size.
I think people have a tendency to forget how much Ivey was blossoming when he went down. Two game winners(huge added bonus for the team. A clutch player)and shooting 40+% from three.
If Langdon moves Ivey in a package, it better be for a stunner like JJJ, or Bam.
I agree with not wanting Langdon to create a hole by filling another but isn’t targeting a taller PF if Duren is traded the exact same thing?
Tari Eason (23) (6’8” height and 7’2” wingspan) in 24mpg: 12ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.5apg, 1.7spg, 0.9bpg on 48.7% fg and 34% 3p
Naz Reid (25) (6’9.5” height and 7’3.5” wingspan) in 27.5mpg: 14.2ppg, 6rpg, 2.3apg, 0.7spg, 0.9bpg on 45.2% fg and 37.9% 3p
Santi Aldama (24) (6’11” height) in 25.5mpg: 12.5ppg, 6.4rpg, 2.9apg, 0.8spg, 0.4bpg on 48.3% fg and 36.8% 3p
Jabari Smith jnr (21) in 30.1mpg: 12.2ppg, 7rpg, 1.1 apg, 0.4spg, 0.7bpg on 43.8% fg and 35.4% 3p.
From this list you’re automatically excluding Eason just based on height, which I think an argument could easily be made thathe has the highest floor as well as ceiling and is the far superior defender.
I'm not excluding anyone, but shorter players have their limitations, unless they are Ben Wallace. Stewart is smaller as well, and even with his game changing defense, like Big Ben, he doesn't have Ben's hops, so he's limited in terms of weakside help.
I dont see a universe in where Langdon trades Duren, and I think (i could be wrong) people need to accept that. Cade is the franchise. Removing the bigman that that is the second piece in the most successful lob threat in the league is super dangerous, unless your replacing him with a
better player in that archetype. Good luck.
Look at Boston/Cavs/OKC/Denver/NY They all have SIZE. The Pistons are close, but Harris is not a true blue PF, as shown by having to guard KAT. Now, lets say the Pistons nab Naz, without giving up core pieces. He is 6'9, but he is highly skilled. He can shoot the lights out, dribble drive, e.t.c.
In the end, I have my preferences, but I'm gonna trust Langdon. From the sounds of it, everything I've read is that Langdon is going to stay the course, and not make any rash moves, giving away core, young pieces to make a splash.
A full time starting PF upgrade over Harris seems like the only move that needs to be made, and if Langdon does nothing, im willing to bet we will start seeing Klintman get real minutes early in the season behind Harris. There is a reason he signed him to a 4 year deal.
Cade/???
Ivey/Beasley
Ausar/Holland
Harris/Klintman
Duren/Stewart
I am unsure if Schroder will be back, and if Sasser remains, thus the ??? Behind Cade.
In the end, I've enjoyed reading everyone's ideas. I really can't poo-poo anyone mentioned, in terms of player. I dont like trading core pieces(Ivey/Duren)to do so, as it just creates another hole, but sometimes you gotta do that, I get it. Stagnation is its own special hell.
