I just don't see a high enough ceiling with a Gobert-like archetype, and that's assuming Maluach would be an elite rebounder like Gobert is. Maluach has zero offensive game besides running to the rim or waiting baseline for a lob. He's not even an elite defender as he's still new to the game. I honestly think there's enough good talent in this draft to look elsewhere even if Maluach is there at 12 assuming the Bulls don't move up.
I'd rather take a chance on Carter Bryant and see if he can develop into a Jalen Johnson-esque player. He'd be a fantastic fit next to Giddey, Coby, and Matas as the high energy 3&D with tremendous athleticism as an off ball threat.
I don't think you need great offensive production from your center. Sometimes, defending, rebounding, and play finishing is enough. Skilled bigs are great and should be highly valued, but the tradeoff isn't always worth it. Most of these skilled bigs put a cap on your defense.
Many here would rather have Gafford over Vuc the last 3 seasons.
