I say this as someone who has been following Steph Curry not to long after he was drafted. His off-ball movement is easily the most identical not to mention his jump-shot is absolutely bonkers. Philly has a future superstar on their hands who'd I'd argue should be prioritized over Embiid.
Sounds crazy to say right now but I remember saying the same thing about Steph right before they traded Ellis. Not to mention Maxey isn't a slouch either. That backcourt will be lethal for years to come if surrounded with the right pieces.
From the outside looking in who seems to have the higher ceiling between Maxey and Mccain?
This is a hard one because Maxey in my opinion reminds me a bit of Fox with flashes of Colin Sexton. McCain reminds me a lot of Steph Curry with some flashes of Derrick White.
From what I see at this point from both players, I'd have to say McCain has more superstar potential. I'd go as far to say that at the rate McCain is going, he's is easily the closest Steph Curry clone that I've witnessed in terms of playstyle and efficiency. His jumpshot being as great as it is this early and his offball movement combined is enough for me to say that it's McCain.
Gun to my head, McCain is the higher ceiling without a doubt. But the fact that I have to say gun to my head says a lot about Maxey himself which is why I will say that 76ers fans shouldn't have one worry in their mind about the future. Both Maxey and McCain will be lighting it up for years to come.
Morey should be absolutely FIRED if he doesn't clean house and build around these 2.
EDIT:
Side note outside of the playstyle. I definitely see the 76ers as the next team that all the kids will flock to being fans of. McCain and Maxey are both young, a lot of aura and very very likeable. McCain is HUGE on TikTok which helps so to see a social media star go into the league and do damage isn't normal. TikTok wasn't as big as it is today when JuJu did it with the Steelers. It will probably be many more in the future but I think McCain will be the face of the social media superstar NBA players.
