The league put out a statement saying they would investigate. I've looked into this some more, and it sounds to me there were no racial slurs. I've seen numerous video clips and statements from people in the arena, and they said there were no racial slurs.
Some say the accusation involves a piece of audio that sounds like a dolphin that was played during Reese's free throw attempts. It is actually a clip of a YouTuber laughing, which has also been played at NBA games. The accusation I've heard that this was a clip of a monkey screeching, and that is the supposed racial content. But that's not at all what it is. Angel Reese seems like a drama queen, she seems just the sort of person who would make a false racial accusation. Wouldn't surprise me a bit.
I recall an incident several years ago, I think it was an NBA game, a player accused a fan of shouting a racial slur, and the fan was ejected. Only thing is, the incident was on video, and he didn't make a racial slur, he was yelling something else entirely.
Sure, there are always racists, but anyone who yells out a racial slur during a game takes a high risk of getting ejected if someone hears him. I suspect this particular incident is nothing but BS. If Indiana is such an unsafe, terrible place to play, why aren't we hearing similar complaints about the fans in Pacer games?
Angel Reese is not going to be a popular player in Indiana, because of her behavior last year. Mainly the incident where Chennedy Clark shoved Caitlin off the ball, and Angel Reese jumped up off the bench and cheered. She also kept making statements about being on the same level as Caitlin, and that she was just as responsible as her for the increased fans in the arenas. So no, she's not going to be popular here in Indiana. I've heard some say they consider the cheering when she missed her free throws as a racist act. No, that's not racist. Fans boo the other team, there's nothing wrong with that. If someone does yell racial slurs, that is obviously wrong, and they should be dealt with as individuals. Don't paint the entire Fever fandom as unsafe and racist.
