If JK leaves GS on a 1 year prove it deal (likely a 1 + player option or something), what's the most his new team will be able to pay him? Would it be like our issues with DDV where we don't get bird right and can only give him a ~25% raise? Meaning, if he stays with GS on the QO, he'd still be eligible for the 5/220 supermax that rookies can get. With a new team, i think it would be much lower. And that would be whether he signs a contract as an RFA or is traded this season while on his QO?
Sorry, I never saw this post. Guess I'm not always
that available. We signed DDV as a UFA which made him a non-Bird FA after one year, so as you said, we were limited how much we could offer the second year (120%.)
If JK receives an offer sheet as an RFA, it would have to be for at least two years, excluding options, for whatever a team could fit under the cap or into an exception. That's why it's thought that only Brooklyn could make him a big offer and why an S&T is thought to be the most likely outcome.
If he accepts the QO, he becomes a UFA at the end of the season. Any team can sign him for whatever they can afford, though the Warriors could offer him the most since they would hold his Bird rights (he's not eligible for supermax.) He can also veto any trade, and, in this situation, if he allows a trade his Bird rights reset, so the team he goes to would be in the same boat we were with DDV, they'd be limited as to what they could offer.
If I misunderstood any questions I'll try again.
