Congrats to him and OKC. Keeps it a little more interesting I guess.

Do I think he carries this Denver team to 50 wins ?

Hell no.

He put up numbers that only MJ has done twice and he won MVP both of those seasons as well. The Thunder also won 68 games.

Plot twist: there are no sources, Shams just went ahead and tweeted since it's obvious anyway.
When the individual feels, the community reels.

Second time in his career Jokic had lost the MVP to a foul baiter, at least this one has made it out of the second round.

They all foul bait except maybe Curry. Prime MJ, Kobe, and Harden instantly come to mind.

Not even close. That was a sham. This one is well deserved.

Jokic is still the "better player", but the win difference + SGA's stats, even as a Nuggets fan, I know you couldn't really vote for anyone else.

LOL if Embiid didn't get injured 2 years ago, what would have you called him winning that? The most dominant offensive season of all time is what he was on pace for. Nuggets fans, constantly proppin up their boy for advanced stats is the real sham, especially given how much of an advanced stats darling Embiid was in that year.

He’s the best player in the world that plays using his body. A Center who elbows and bulldozes his way to the rim is going to get that treatment. Let’s keep this about SGA.

So I was curious if the NBA had something similar to the baseball Wins Above Replacement(WAR) stat and it doesn't, but it does have win shares. I don't hear it mentioned much so I'm not sure how useful it is but Shai had the best combined win share at 16.7 with Jokic second at 16.4. The next closest was Zubac at 11.7.

Team records are very much a team stat so there are some issues with making that a key criteria. I personally don't think Shai was more valuable to his team than Jokic was to his. OKC has a much better supporting roster. Jokic's win share as a percentage of his team wins is much higher that Shai's as a percentage of his.

So what’s the excuse for the dude that just snaps his head back and throws himself to the ground? Yeah, congrats to SGA and the Thunder.

I think Jokic is the better player and had the better season, but Shai I cannot be upset about at all.

Like Jokic averaged a triple double shooting at about 58%. This really was a historic statistical year in my opinion. Its one of the most impressive overall lines I could remember.

Congrats to SGA. 68 wins is just too hard to overlook, especially with them continuing to win early when both IHart and Chet were out. His numbers and impact were more than deserving.

With that said, what Jokic averaged this season is absolutely disgusting... I don't think it's a reach to say what he did this season will go down as the most impressive individual offensive season in NBA history:
- A +20.1 in ORTG when on
- 29.6pts on 66.3%TS (58/42/80)
- 10.2ast vs 3.3to
- He took his only weakness offensively in 3pt shooting and increased it by 5.8% while increasing his 3PA by 1.8
