He is getting paid 212 million to be an elite defender for this team, and he simply hasn't been that this year.

I think he has been a disappointment this season, particularly on defense, where he has been solid, but not great. He falls well below Caruso, the Thompson twins, Draymond or Gobert in defensive impact.

He also hasn't been good in these playoffs. The Knicks have been 24.8 points per 100 possessions worse with him on the court. This isn't just statistical noise, the value is too extreme to be meaningless.

So back to game 1, he completely blows a defensive coverage on a key possession in the last minute of regulation, he blows a wide open layup earlier in the 4th quarter, he turns the ball over at a pivotal moment, and he's the one to throw a tantrum during the timeout? I also saw him ignoring a dap attempt by KAT when the Knicks were up big, leaving him hanging at midcourt.

He's giving off weird vibes, I'm sorry.

I hope he bounces back in game 2, but I think he may become a question mark for the offseason if he doesn't step up. I'm hoping he does.

Yes or no, the only non rookie scale contract on the Knicks that would net a positive return is Jalen Brunson?

No.

I think they're all solid players at minimum that a number teams would be interested in. Just not for a high price, besides for Brunson.

There's one coach in the league capable of being up 14 with 3:44 left to go and losing. It's meteor level improbable. You have to be such a stubborn slow thinking orc to even give it a run.

And yet that isolated situation wasn’t the reason they blew a whole 14 point lead. There were numerous of things that went wrong. You can claim that’s when it all started but in reality a couple of contests and made free throws and we aren’t arguing about a historic loss.

No my claim is that with 244 seconds left a rhesus monkey as coach would be 99% to win.

If you put in your best defense 5 and can just get a 24 second violation, and assume it takes about 16 seconds for them to full court and get a shot off. That's 5.6 ... 5.6 x 2 is ~11. It would take 5 straight made 3s. This assumes you dont even attempt a shot.

He was the only guy who was relaxed during the squabble on the bench in the 4th quarter among OG, KAT, and Brunson. I liked that.

But he's tired. If your coach has a damn clue he's either screaming to him to back it out or doesn't have him in the game, recognizing fatigue

Or played him fewer minutes thus far

Now that I was able to recover emotionally from last night’s game, i have a couple thoughts:

1. We didn’t “choke”. The Pacers went nuts with 3s at the end of the game and Haliburton had his lucky 3. That’s not a choke job. Give the Pacers some credit. That said, Naismith won’t go off like that again.

2. Hit your damn Free throws in crunch time.

3. We’re going to win this series. Remember that we play very well on the road.

4. Game 2 is a must-win game.

Not for nothing but why was Chalamet calling for a timeout so the Pacers could review the call that ended the game with the JB reversal. lol.

Does anybody inside MSG have a brain or nah? Pretty amusing. You have to laugh really. It's funny. Actors maybe not that smart but I wonder if Jack Nicholson ever essentially asked the refs to make a call against the Lakers.

Isn't New York supposed to be the sophisticated city? You have the Knicks coach who doesn't know what's going on, JB using no clock up 5 with 35 to go and 22 left on the clock, OG shooting early 3's with a comfortable lead and little time left, Mitch coming in and playing like the game is already over, OG leaving people open by 10-15 feet and then blaming it on KAT, JB letting Nesmith get a wide open look while he plays "help" defense. And then Chalamet urging a timeout that ended up causing the final nail in the coffin.

I thought NY is the place where all the smart people practice their craft. Oh well.

It's also funny that KAT played the best game of all but still gets shat on.

This is what I’m talking about. Just completely mismanaged the time. Run the clock out and it’s only 10 secs left. It’s a game of possessions smh

I think both are wrong. We just did what is called gross negligence. Gross malpractice. Whichever you prefer.

They maybe choked a little in OT ... but they kept doing the same brainless stuff too.

Being brainless, taking early shots, is the coach's fault -- because of fatigue, because it's a CORE part of his job, clearly and definitely, no room for interpretation.

It's just completely tossing a win into the toilet -- then flushing hard and holding the flusher as long as you can -- because you're an idiot. There is no nuance here.
