Re: Giannis Thread
Giannis met with Bucks. Not only did he not demand or request a trade but Giannis expressed his eagerness to move forward with Milwaukee and win another title.
Let's see how the media spins this now.

Re: Giannis Thread
I'll believe he means it that he wants to be a one-franchise guy when he signs the next extension 18-months from now, and that should be the entire goal of this organization. He'll be 32, have played 13-seasons for the franchise that drafted him, won 2 (hopefully 3) MVP's and a championship, and even if he were to be traded during that last extension when he's 34-35 years old, no one's going to remember him as anything other than a Buck no matter what happens for the last 4-5 years of his "Jordan Wizards/Olajuwon Raptors" stage.

This could go either way. Is Reggie White and Eagle or a Packer? Is Shaq a Laker or a Heat?
Clearly KG embraced Boston as his legacy.
A big difference though with Kareem is time. 6 years versus 12 years. And Giannis loves Milwaukee. Kareem always wanted out to NY or LA.
Reggie White is a Packer. I think people most remember him running the Lombardi trophy around the Superdome.
Shaq is a Laker, but definitely not a Mage (or whatever the singular form would be), despite beating Jordan and leading the Magic to the Finals. Wade was the bus driver for the Heat, so Shaq isn't thought of as such.
If Giannis wins 3 more titles in 6 years, ESPN will make sure to not even show Milwaukee highlights, and the General Board will argue that his first title should have an asterisk because covid, injuries, or whatever. And if the general public can't even remember things that happened a few years ago, then there is no chance with Giannis' full legacy.
Giannis loves Milwaukee now. He also loved Jason Kidd. He'll grow to love wherever else he goes.

That's why it pisses me off when Kareem shows up here periodically when he's selling a book or has some other business thing going on he's wants to promote. He can pound sand.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I've seen nothing credible either. Lots of random social media b.s. where everyone has a "source".

Sure, that's true when it comes to the Bucks' meeting this week. But Wright's probably piggybacking Jim O's real reporting they met during the combine and Giannis reaffirmed he's happy with the direction.
So what more do we need to learn from this meeting? It seems just a discussion on what they're actually going to try to do and how Giannis can help.

Seriously? You think we could get like Keldon Johnson as “filler” as well (flawed game and all but still someone id gladly take in this aforementioned deal) and what else?
Man, if I can get Castle, Vassell, Sochan, Keldon, Harper Jr at 1.2, whomever at 1.14, our choice of the spurs owned three future firsts, I am ok dealing my favorite athlete in any sport of all time.
Nah. Spurs fans are saying Castle and 1.2 are untouchable in a trade for Giannis because they have literal worms in their brains.
True value for Giannis is everything you mentioned above but the pick package should be 1.2, 1.14, 2.38, 27Atl, 28 Bos and SAS swap, 30 best of SAS/MN/DAL picks, 31 sac and SAS swap rights, 32 SAS, five more seconds, they throw in Barnes so the Bucks can ditch Kuz, and the rights to all seven of their draft and stash dudes. The Spurs will select for the Bucks during the draft so the trade is official after the draft which opens up that 32 first.
And even that is an underpay for arguably the best player in the world. But at least the Bucks would have the following picks:
2025 2, 14, and 38
2026 Worse of their and Pels
27 Atlanta’s
28 Second best of theirs, Portlands, Bostons, and Spurs
30 best of best of SAS/Dal/MN and worst of their and Blazers (so two firsts)
31 best of theirs, SAC, SAS
32 theirs and SAS
Five more seconds
Plus whatever picks they get when they flip Barnes and Pats expiring to another team that needs to ditch a longer term contract this offseason.
And plus whatever they get next offseason when they do the same with Dame’s expiring.

Sean Wright is a phony twitter guy? I have seen his work with ESPN. Sorry if it's not credible, thought it was.

It's been interesting bandying about ideas but deep down I don't think I've changed my stance that if Flagg is on the table there's a discussion but ultimately Flagg on his own is not likely to get a deal done.
If he's not on the table we move forward.
The thing that sucks about option 2 is Horst/Doc's presence. Would be a lot more hope for me if that was a different pairing.

If we don't hear anything today then we probably have to assume that they indeed already met and that Jim O. tidbit was correct, right? Would once again be hilarious to watch Shams, Windhorst and all these clowns crawl back into their holes after yet another offseason of presenting their blind speculation/wish-casting as actual rumors/sources.

When did Jim O say this? That should have gotten more coverage than Shams “league sources” BS.

It was a few pages back but the way it was worded kinda led to some speculation as to if he meant that the official sit-down meeting was still happening, but he said point blank that "by the time the Combine had concluded on May 18th, Giannis and the Bucks had met and talked".

If it speculated the other way they’d be leading ESPN with it for the next month. It was nonsense based on absolutely nothing too, just cherry picking together interviews over the years about Giannis commenting on winning and the making **** up about him being “open minded about playing elsewhere” because Dame is hurt apparently.

If the Mavs are compelled to choose a direction, I think they would trade Flagg, because they took so much heat on the AD move, out of pride they don't want want to invalidate it half a season later.
So I think them dealing it is still very plausible. And Giannis would be the best win now option in a vacuum. Fit the timeline. But it seems more likely at this point they are deluding themselves into believing an 18 yr old makes them a contender right now, or they'll split present/future interests.

At this point if Giannis wants out can't let him have any say where he wants to play.

Re: Giannis Thread
Just seeing Jim O's MJS quote seems about as encouraging as we could hope for at this stage:
https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nba/bucks/2025/05/22/is-giannis-getting-traded-damian-lillard-future-milwaukee-bucks-reader-questions/83721971007/
By the time the NBA Combine ended on May 18, Antetokounmpo had some conversations with organizational leadership about the future of the team and remained happy in Milwaukee with no real intent to leave, and therefore no trade request had been made. In all his years, he has never requested a trade, even though he has regularly applied pressure on the team to keep upgrading to the roster.
Longtime NBA reporter Chris Haynes said Antetokounmpo was going to meet with Horst the week of May 19 for one of their annual offseason conversations about the direction of the team. Other conversations have typically occurred in the summer months.

Re: Giannis Thread
Just a theory, but if Giannis wanted Doc fired and told Horst that this week, I’d also suspect they would wait a few weeks to fire Doc so it doesn’t look like Giannis is a coach killer.
