Gonna take some time for that BS league allowing trans to garner respect.. no dicks in chicks sports.

There has been one single person ever in the WNBA that has identified as trans. That person was born female and identifies as “non-binary”.

It’s not an issue.

Identifying as anything other than a woman still compromises the integrity of their association.

I knew that at least 25% of the players in the WNBA were gay. I didn't know that there were any transgender players. I Googled it and now I do.

Yes, the WNBA has had transgender players. Layshia Clarendon, who retired in 2024, was the league's first openly transgender and non-binary player. She played for several teams, including the Minnesota Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks, and was a prominent figure in the WNBA, both on and off the court. She also serves as a leader in the WNBA's social justice initiatives.

As far as I can tell the league has only had one confirmed case. Funny thing is they called it a she and since it is non-binary you're supposed to be calling it they. This person who doesn't identify as female was allowed to play in the WNBA? Worse yet was on the Minnesota Lynx.

Thanks. I am still in the process of learning about this. If it/they was born female for purposes of playing in the WNBA that is good enough for me, but it is strange.

Yes I was in the process of learning about it. Since they were born female I'm ok with they playing in the WNBA, but it's strange that they wanted to play in the WNBA if they don't even consider themselves to be female. This information explains why they didn't dominate the league.

Identifying as anything other than a woman still compromises the integrity of their association.

I’m sure they’re devastated that you don’t approve.

It creates a bit of a potential dilemma down the road. Transgender biological males are currently allowed to compete against biological girls and women in HS and at the collegiate levels.

What if transgender bio males started taking roster spots (and paychecks) away from bio women in the WNBA? We know the straight players would protest but would the gay players in the league oppose this as well? ESPN wouldn't know which side of the story to show bias towards.

As a country, we really struggle with "common sense" decisions on both sides of the political spectrum.

Isn't it part of the problem? The need of recognition of the rest of the people and the desire of attention?

Lucky that BS mental illness is mainly present in the USA and the rest of anglosaxon.

But it's a thing that it's better to let outside of a basketball forum, I think.
