No, that's not "well-documented." What's well documented is that, in addition to Randle, Yao, Kobe, Rose, Noah, Butler, etc. all loved working with/playing for the guy.

Thibodeau also helped develop a young Kobe Bryant. "[Thibodeau] was crucial [to my development]. He was with me when I was 16 or 17 years old,” Bryant said in 2010. “Just doing drills and just working on ballhandling and just teaching me the game. He was there from Day 1.”

https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/ny-tom-thibodeau-belichick-knicks-coach-20200718-zuf6j2maqrembmudop56o3qaji-story.html

In 2005-06, he worked with All-Star Center Yao Ming as he became the first Rockets player to average 20 points and 10 rebounds in a season since Hakeem Olajuwon in 1995-96. Thibodeau has gone to China the past two summers to help Yao work on his individual skills. Yao speaks often of Thibodeau's role in his breakthrough play after coming back from the toe surgery last season. A look at tape of Yao from three seasons ago, before Thibodeau began working with him, and a tape of him from this season would be compelling evidence of Thibodeau's effectiveness.

"[I'm] very happy for him," Noah said Sunday. "Very well deserving. Coach is one of the hardest workers I've ever been around. He stays in late. He's the first one here. He was here for me all summer, working me out, and I feel like I really improved as a player because of him in just one year. Very tough coach. And I'm happy for him."

“I figured out that Thibs loved me unconditionally. He’s the first coach up here that I felt like loved me unconditionally and it wasn’t about what I did for him.’’ – Former Bulls guard Derrick Rose on Thibodeau to the Detroit News earlier this season.

Same king that got destroyed by John Collins and Capela.

Sadly, I think the bit in bold is right. Magic wasn't going to diss the Knicks in New York.

Magic paying lip service to New York. The only time he talk sh*t is when it benefits him directly - and he had nothing to gain here.
"You want me to own a team and deal with these rich, spoiled stubborn athletes, and try to get them to perform? No thank you." - Kobe

At least he led his team to the play off's and I am not the fan of Randle at all, on the other hand Zion have missed another one, so we don't know how he would fare in the post season yet

the Knicks are quite capable of reverting to a laughingstock in short order. They consistently either draft poorly or mismanage their young players and Thibs system will wear thin over time. Nobody is going there

Wow, someone is still mad at Jeanie Buss and trying to get in a shot.
Is he working for Dolan now?

Careful Magic-
In 2010 if I was a gambler I would have bet it ALL on LeBron signing there.
I was confident of that in 2008 just like these guys that the lure of NYC draws players.

Does he have a book or something he's promoting now, is he just bored, or is this some of the media thinking that since the Lakers are out of the playoffs they need something to generate casual attention cause they are no "stars" left.

Nice bump.
I think that Nolan taking steps back has helped them become far more attractive.
Ofc it helps that the team is competitive.
Thibs, Rose may have their issues but they have created a much needed culture of competing.
I think they're on the verge of attracting a superstar for the first time ever(no, Melo wasn't on that level).

I don’t see it realistically from an assets pov. I love Bridges, but they traded too much ammo for Bridges. Going to be really tough getting that guy without some perfect 3-team trade, and/or further compromising their already paper thin depth.

As I noted, that likely requires finding some 3-team trade. If I’m trading my star and starting over, why do I want KAT?

Because your star player wants to play for the Knicks. You take KAT and you trade him for picks, expirings.

In the case of a potential Giannis trade specifically it's because the Bucks don't control their own 1st round pick until 2031.

In their ideal scenario they'd move Giannis and somehow not implode because bottoming out wouldn't even help. KAT would be a semi-plausible route to that objective.

Small slight at LeBron?

i don't know why you would think it's a lebron slight,,,and i'm a hater

but the only reason why players went to miami and cavs was because it was young lebron and they put up with his nonsense. they put up with being marginalized (bosh and love) they put up with his social media innuendos. they put up with knowing he'll blame them for everything. they wouldn't put up with OLD lebron cuz old lebron can't guarantee a ring

anyway, getting back to magic,,,,,he's way off. players want to play @nyk because of THE CITY. the city, like los angeles, expands the player's brand.

it's not because anyone wants to play next to kat. IN FACT nyk should trade kat to phx for durant. kd is old and injured but he's still 5x > kat. kat is a perfect fit next to booker and beal in ishbia's aura

personally, i think thibs is a tough sell. he plays a very tight rotation and works the players hard. playing for nyk would be like playing in miami and you don't see stars running to sunny miami either

there won't be some kind of nyc renaissance because the franchise is validated by THE CITY. it doesn't have a basketball history other than the holzman knicks and that the opponents get their PR in the garden.
