People are over rating how bad the Jrue contract is, it's only 3 years, you know he's still going to be a good shooter and All-Def team defender next year, and will be tradable in year 3 in a bigger package. They have no need for PJ any more, and have been trying to get off of Gaff since before the Luka trade. Jrue plays point when Ky is out, and moves to consummate 3D SG when he comes back. Compete with that roster for 2 years, and if it's not working, you have a 37 mil expirering, and hopefully something else to throw at a starter asking out on a longer deal, or in a 2 for 1.
Lively
AD- Martin
Cooper- Marshall
Jrue- Max- Hardey
Kyrie
Look to trade Klay and Hardy for another piece thats cheaper if you want to save money.
Hope for injury luck for 3 years, and if it's not working, you gave Flagg 3 years similar to Tatum's first 3 in the league, then you move on from all the vets and use your cap space and vets like Davis/Kyrie to hopefully get 1 more bluechip prospect next to Lively, Flagg, and Christie.
Honestly, this all sounds more than okay. However, do you think the Celtics would add a 1st rounder in this trade too? Because while I agree that Jrue's contract is not terrible at the moment, it certainly has a chance to become one sooner than later. And the Celtics get two very good players, and basically a 1st rounder in Omax, who could develop into a rotation player. I feel like the Celtics should put in a future 1st in this deal.
