Re: 2025 General Draft Discussion 2
Queen rated 3rd? Malauch 4th?
Did NYCUNC produce this
?
I do appreciate different perspectives, but I don’t see this as reflecting majority sentiment from NBA teams. Queen has lots of warning bells, and I do not see Ace sliding to anywhere near 12.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

i mean... its not a mock or reflective of what he thinks nba teams have guys ranked. just one dudes opinions on how he personally ranks them. queen/malauch in top 5 isnt too out there. 3 thru 10 is probably more fluid than we think. espn big board is less how they think and more on nba intel, so i appreciate some fresh views.

Fun. Interesting that for all the flack Ace is given for poor shot choice, he ranks average in shot quality.

Re: 2025 General Draft Discussion 2
A few of the most interesting nuggets from Barlowe article today.
Spurs could be tricky at #2. If they like someone Harper may not be a lock.
Ace the fav at 3, but Tre, VJ and Malauch should get looks.
Fears range could be 2-5.
Milwaukee scouting top 10 prospects (first pick 47).

Interesting that Malauch would get a look at 3 with Embiid there. Granted he never plays, but still. Can see Milwaukee scouting in our range if someone uses their pick as a stepping stone for Giannis.

I think this is going to be a year when a trade happens in the top 5 on draft night. I think Utah is going to trade up to 2 to get Harper. And San Antonio is going to take Noa Essengue at 5.And as a counterpoint to that it also means one of Ace, VJ, or Tre will drop out of the top 5.

I think Spurs trade #2 to NOP for #7 and 2 Bucks firsts. Spurs then flip those picks to Bucks in Giannis deal.

The Pelicans leveraging their Bucks firsts to trade up for Harper would be brilliant on their part, it makes a ton of sense. But are they smart enough to pull that off? I have doubts (same if it was us in that situation).

Yeah, because if you are Milwaukee. Which would you rather have?
#2 (Harper)? or #7 plus your own first in 26 and 27? Decent chance if they are bottoming out post Giannis those are both top 8 picks.

I was hoping you'd be onto something here, but I really don't think it works without also including Atlanta. The Pels are probably hardcore rebuilding the next few years and need their picks.
Their 2026 is currently a swap. own the better of NOLA and MIL. I don't think the Pelicans give up this pick outright (although one could argue they should, if Harper is that level of prospect), and just a swap isn't really that massive value for them.
The Pels own the better of their own and MIL, but Atlanta owns the lesser of the two. Can't necessarily give Milwaukee their own pick back without going through Atlanta to decouple the picks.
Unless the Pels are making their version of the Panthers Bryce Young trade where they give up all rights to their 2027, I don't know how this works.
investigate Adam Silver

If you expect to be a bad team, which the Bucks will be with Giannis gone, you absolutely want to have control over your own picks. If the Bucks GM isn't a moron that's a requirement for any Giannis trade. I think they'd like Harper, but having control over the own picks the next 2 years plus the 7th is a better deal for them.

Re: 2025 General Draft Discussion 2
It's a pattern - you get sensible mocks shortly after the lottery. There's an entire college season of player scouting to go on at that point. Then there are a few understandable risers and fallers after the combine and as workouts roll out. But in the relative quiet between now and draft day, there is also the continuous BS reshuffling of individual mocks by draft hacks hunting clicks that result in things like Queen at 3 and Maluach at 4. In the end, the draft will look a lot more like the post-lottery consensus mocks (with trades being the wild variable) and the clickbaiter mocks will magically begin to realign with them closer to.

i get it, he could/should be solid, i didn't watch much College basketball but he never stood out as a top 5 prospect to me.
its funny how they start rising in the ratings, is he interviewing well or something??
