KAT and Booker were college roommates and best buds. The reason Phoenix would want KAT is to pair him with Booker.

Minny coveting Durant makes it seem like there's a 3 team trade for sure. But what would we get? Randle and Divo back lol? I actually would not be opposed as hilarious as that would be. I think it gets back the chemistry we lost from the trade. We'd be back to needing a center again but at least Mitch is healthy now.

Randle doesn't want NY.

Knicks arent trading KAT who was like 10th in MVP voting for Peanuts. He is a great player but just it turns out not a great fit with Brunson .

Phx isnt getting KAT without us getting a big piece. Goebert and/or Divo can not be the biggest fish of that deal.

That trade inthe tweet above is crazy. Knicks want no part of Zion. Way too much risk, character issues, weight issues, and severe health issues.

Agreed. I proposed Reid, DDV, Shannon Jr. and picks coming back to NY in a 3-team deal. Increase defense, chemistry, depth, and trade assets. Maybe.

We got KAT for:

Foolius on a 1+1
A decent role player guard
A trash Detroit 1st

Now we're flipping him for Booker or Giannis? After he's a year older and his flaws further documented. :x :x

This is why people view Knicks fans as bing bong clowns.

Suns would just take Reid and DDV. Reid by himself is as a good enough stretch big to pair with Booker and he cares about defense. Reid makes $15 million KAT makes $50 heading to $60.

KATs contract is hideous, that's why we gave up so little for him.

I really don't think he wants to stand pat. The major defensive problem of this team---JB and KAT just being too weak defensively---is not something fixable. Getting another good bench player is not going to fix it---they are going to have exactly the same problems next season.

I think in terms of Superstar trade a KD trade would make sense if you could talk KD into accepting a discounted extension, like 2years at 60-70mill. That way you could build a pretty deep team that is still super talented at the top. Maybe KD + Richards so that the Center position is taken care of.

BTW, one possibility that has not been talked about that much is the Knicks going into exactly the opposite direction of what fans want---instead of turning more defensive, they could deem they don't like any potential KAT trade and instead trade Mitch for another 3-and-D wing...play KAT at the 5 and bring Hart off the bench. Think something like Mitch for DFS for example:

JB
Bridges
OG
DFS
KAT

I personally wouldn't go that route because I ultimately think KAT/JB will be tough to make work but that could be the alternative route.

https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/knicks-trade-ideas-giannis-kd-a-mavs-deal-3-moves-that-can-get-new-york-over-the-top-190720651.html

Interesting that KAT (53.1mill) for KD (54.7mill.) doesn't even work straight up.

In contrast to what some are saying I do believe the Knicks have a shot at Giannis but they would have to likely be willing to give up OG in the deal as well. Like they send out KAT/OG to Milwaukee or KAT to some third team (Brooklyn?) and get back Giannis and another good role player.

I don't know how difficult it would be to make it work capwise but something along these lines:

KAT to Brooklyn
OG + Claxton + 4 NY unprotected picks to Milwaukee from Brooklyn
Giannis + Portis (or Kuzma) to NY

Brooklyn would essentially be giving up Claxton + 4 picks for KAT (who could stay in NY and is from Brooklyn)
Knicks would get Giannis + a solid/good role player for KAT/OG
Milwaukee would get two young, stud defenders + 4 unprotected picks

The question obviously would be whether Giannis would be worth giving up both OG and KAT.....I personally don't think Milwaukee would consider it if it was Bridges instead of OG but OG could actually make the offer competitive. Personally I am a big OG fan and don't want to give him up but for Giannis one has to ponder it.

I think most of yall would hate this, but I could honestly see us trading KAT and our young guys for DeAndre Ayton and Anfernee Simons' expiring contracts. It would take a 3-team deal using a team like the Pelicans, but it's doable (and the Nova boys stay along with OG and Mitch)

NYK receive:
- DeAndre Ayton
- Anfernee Simons

POR receive:
- Karl-Anthony Towns
- Tyler Kolek
- Pacome Dadiet
- Jordan Hawkins (from NOP)

NOP receive:
- Miles McBride
- Ariel Hukporti
- Kris Murray (from POR)

2025-26 Knicks Roster
Jalen Brunson
Josh Hart
Mikal Bridges
OG Anunoby
Mitchell Robinson (C)
-----------------------
Anfernee Simons (PG/SG)
DeAndre Ayton (C)

re-signed players:
Landry Shamet
Delon Wright
Precious Achiuwa
Cameron Payne

I also wonder could the Knicks act as a third or fourth team to trade for KAT? Like the wolves really want KD, the suns might want KAT based on his connection to Booker, the Knicks can act as the in between and just get an assets haul from both.

Like the contracts are so big for KD and they want to win now. I just think depth is going to be more important in the East while Star talent is still more important in the west.
