He was involved but it wasn't his idea. After Nico convinced him he was obviously fully on board and later made a lot of dumb statements and angered fans even more. New CEO Waltz was also informed 45 mins before it happened and did nothing to stop the trade. They were all on this as was Kidd. But like i said, experienced owner who knows this business inside out and the fanbase, would first fire his GM before let anything like this happen.
The 3rd pick will be difficult to justify to an ownership when Paul George is owned like $160m. That's assuming he agrees to his player option that is roughly $60m (off the top of my head).Darren wrote:AD for PG and 3rd pick could be a real possibility if the Mavs head to another direction.
Not having to share with the Stars is a positive.Mr B wrote:Everyone needs to accept the fact that Nico isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Dumont and the Adelson’s want him here. Neither the ownership group of Nico will be going anywhere before a new arena is approved or denied.
Interesting tidbit about the plans for the new arena. It will be a basketball complex only. They will not have to share the area with the Dallas Stars anymore (if it’s approved).

I assume it means the team can get rid of it's practice facility as well.

CHA receives: AD
DAL rebuilds around Flagg. Get the #4 pick, our 27 FRP pick and another pick from CHA. I don't want Bridges near this team but he's needed for salary matching. Cut salary and get beneath 2nd apron also.
CHA puts together a team around Lamelo, AD and B. Miller. It's the East. That's a playoff team.

I think it's too pricey for Cha. Three FRP for an aging always injured AD wouldn't be a wise move for them. No Brainer for Dallas

Yeah I think so too. Probably needs to take out the 27 CHA FRP to make it even realistically.
I know Nico won't do this trade but it's my preferred direction of the team.
daoneandonly wrote:Won't happen on either side, but if BKN were willing to take AD into space (or at least mostly, maybe use a couple of smaller contracts) plus the 8th pick and a future pick, would you do it?
We can then maybe draft Flagg's Duke running mate Kneuppel and have loads of cap flexibility.

So IMO, you can assume it will be a late first round pick. NYK pick will be a very distant one or actually untradeable yet, or if you are talking about that one from WAS, it has no value as it is lottery protected. Therefore, it is basically AD for KD + McBride + a late first, and it is a NO for me.
Thanks for clarifying. My understanding is that WAS pick from NY is now top 8 protected, not lottery protected. Still unlikely but top 14 vs top 8 is pretty big. To be honest, both NY and PHX's draft availability situation confuses me which is why I kept it general in my initial proposal in this thread.
I don't disagree that we are owed more. AD has the highest value in this trade proposal in general. If we can exact another pick or 2 from both, that would be my preference.
I guess I'm vastly under valuing AD because he isnt worth 57+mil we owe him over the next few years. Hell, I'm close to putting him in the KP category when it comes to reliability.
And to think we will be relying on him to be our offensive catalist going into next season should make every Mavs fan cringe.
We should get what we can while we can before we end up having to resort to Dinwiddie/Bertan Davis type moves and include picks just to get rid of him.

don't know why you those always rate AD so low, when healthy, he is a top 10 player in NBA, even better than healthy Irving. Now you trade AD away will not have an equal good player in return. Just sit and look at how AD play a full season then you will know how good he is. AD and Flagg will be the best 2 forward comb in the world, both in attack and def

Mavs fans feel AD is Otto Porter Jr. because a lot have a crush on Luka. So the trade feels like a breakup especially for the emotionally invested ones. It will pass eventually. Like any breakup, it needs time.
Pacers fans would feel the same if they traded Haliburton, Suns fans would be in the same boat if they traded Booker. Just fans being fans.

I know luka will always be in Mavs hero and trade away Luka is Nico fault, but there's not fault on AD. I am Irving fans but I also break my heart when Luka was traded, I cannot forgive Nico, but it is time to move on

KP is never in the same level close to AD in any one single day
