i essentially grew up on message boards so i really do have a hard time relating to people wanting the entertaining posters gone as if that improves the quality of the forum?
To answer your question, for me personally
Entertainment=/= trolling, antagonizing, always arguing in bad faith, lying about other posters, etc
There's been plenty of entertaining posters that didn't ruin the culture of the board and make it constantly toxic.
I think there's a pretty clear difference personally.
but now the board is less entertaining for others who aren't so sensitive. i think if it bothers you, you should ignore the poster and then everyone wins. but by getting them banned, now others who enjoyed the content are deprived of the option. if i could have it my way people that didn't like melo would just fight back and nobody on either side would be punished. the only time i think moderation is even necessary is when weirdos start getting tough and asking people to PM their addresses

Brother I think you're looking at this the wrong way.
I am not sensitive, I've been in the internet a long time and dealt with plenty of trolling, arguing, etc, arguing in bad faith gets very tiring to read after awhile. There's no "winning" an argument with someone who is constantly arguing in bad faith, moviing goal posts and when all else fails, lying about posters whenever they are infact "losing" and argument. It clearly wasn't leading to anything positive on the board, and was causing a ton of long time members to stop posting and cause actual insight to be lost.
There's a difference between being "sensitive" and not wanting to deal with people acting like straight up children just to get a rise out of people.
As far as Melo goes I don't think he's banned permanently but who knows, and he wasn't the only one who would act in the way I'm describing, and if it he is, it's not like it wouldn't be warranted. I'm the only one really speaking in the matter but we all know there's a lot more posters who feel the same way on the issue. And also those who were just tired of it and up and left the board. It's been going on for 3-4, years now, multiple big arguments, etc.
RealGM Knicks is not in a spot where we can afford to allow trolls to take over, create a toxic environment and cause people to leave, and/or cause potential new posters to not want to bother coming here to post. It's unlikely this next generation is going to want to post about Knicks on message boards like this one so to cause the old heads who have been here for a decade or more to not wanna be here is not the move. It boils down to it being immature not being sensitive, the only people who tend to troll to that level that it causes that level of toxicity are people who are immature
I'm done with the victim blaming going on in this thread. Time to reflect on people's actions and the toxicity they created here instead.
