Kind of puts the kibosh on the Bryant rumor.
Thoughts on Rick Pitino?

Actually pretty crazy how many quality coaches currently are available. You have 3 coaches that made it at least to the finals within the last 5 years. Monty would also be fun from the perspective that he was a rookie for the Knicks when I really got into Basketball and was still collecting cards.
No one on that list is any sort of upgrade over Thibs. They can't hire a retread. It has to be someone new or a truly great coach, and there isn't one out there, unless JVG wants the gig. Thibs has been basically been a clone of his, but I'd be willing to bet Van Gundy would look a lot different now than he did in his last HC gig. In the end it's likely going to be Bryant.

He kept his mouth shut on specifics but 100% had the info before even Shams. He's telling us this is a boss move and that rules out some candidates who either aren't big names or are simply available, like Malone.

Hope he's correct here too.![]()
Hiring Malone (or Kidd, etc.) would be a step backwards, imo.

Leon and the gang have completely revamped the roster over just the last two years. I.e., this FO is very willing and able to make the tough decisions (to include getting rid of Thibs).
I just hope they don't flub the new coaching hire--and choosing Malone would be a definite flub in my opinion.

It'll be a very very Knicks thing to do. Lol
Fire Thibs ....... hire Malone/Kidd.
TBF , Malone is probably a good fit. East coast guy. Championship coach. Thibs lite.
