Not trading him would be foolish. Although ideally he finishes the year healthy for once, then we can decide in the offseason after seeing how the playoffs go.

Since Giannis isn't available...

1. Draft Edgecombe at #3
2. Embiid for Sengun/Brooks/#10
3. Draft Essengue (or CMB) at #10
4. Trade Oubre/Gordon/two 2nds for Jalen Smith

Maxey/McCain/Butler
Grimes/Edgecombe/Edwards
George/Brooks/Council
Smith/Esesengue/(#35)
Sengun/Bona/Drummond

Edit: Trade simplified, Jalen Smith trade added

McCain is going to be a top 20 player, so we should probably start him and give him a ton of minutes.

I know this is the "fantasy" trade thread, but any proposed trades of Embiid to a young, ascending contender like SA or HOU need to be relocated a new "delusional" trade thread. Why on earth would the Rockets flush the last few years of building for a broken down, ball dominant center and more riff raff?

So the T-Wolves are going to trade us a DPOY and rim protector plus a legit 3&D guy and a 1st for that same broken down, ball dominant center when the plan is to build around their stud all-star guard?

I don't mean to give you a hard time, but please stop.

I’m sure you’re real fun at parties.

You know I don’t write these for your approval, right?

#3 & 2x 2nds for

#6 &
Wizards top 8 pick 2026 (fall back unprotected 2027 1st) &
Removal of 2028 pick swap right freeing up Sixers’ 2028 first.

76ERS-WIZARDS (STEPIEN WORKAROUND)
This trade is designed to exploit a Stepien Rule workaround to target the Washington Wizards’ 2026 top-8 protected pick (owed to the Knicks).

TRADE-BACK
Sixers send: Wizards’ 2027 first-round pick (unprotected).

Wizards send: 2026 first-round pick (No. 1–8 only, if protected from Knicks). If 2026 No. 1–8, Sixers get it, and Wizards get 2027 first back. If 2026 No. 9–30, Knicks get it, and Sixers keep 2027 Wizards’ first. Sweetener: Sixers add 2026 second-round pick to balance Wizards’ risk.

OUTCOME
Sixers get: 2025 No. 6, 2028 swap waiver, and either 2026 Wizards’ first (No. 1–8) or 2027 Wizards’ first unprotected (if 2026 is No. 9–30 conveyed to Knicks).

Sixers give: 2025 No. 3, 2027 GSW second, 2026 Sixers’ second.

Knicks’ rights: Unchanged (still receive Wizards 2026 No. 9–30, or 2027 No. 9–30, or 2027 second).

STEPIEN COMPLIANCE
Initial Trade: Wizards trade 2027 first, keep 2026 (top-8 protected) and 2028 (own, with swaps), compliant (2026/2028).

Trade-Back: If 2026 No. 1–8, Wizards trade 2026 No. 1–8, regain 2027 first, compliant (2027/2028).

Retroactively, if 2026 No. 9–30 conveys to Knicks, Wizards’ 2027 first ensures compliance. The workaround uses Stepien’s execution-time enforcement.

The trade is feasible and Stepien-compliant. The conditional trade-back is legal (e.g., 2016 Nets-Celtics precedent).

TL;DR. The Stepien rule says that you cannot owe, even potentially, two consecutive future draft picks at the completion of a transaction.

For example, if the Sixers made an offer for Giannis: it could not include both the Clipper 28 pick and their own 29 pick with LAC swap because their own 28 pick is owed to BKN top 8 protected, and so therefore they could potentially not own any 1sts in 28 or 29.

If they acquired another 28 1st UNP, or they got the rights to the 1-8 portion of their own 28 pick returned, then they could trade the Clipper pick and their own pick with the Clipper swap.

Sixers out: #3 and PG
Sixers in: #6, Khris Middleton, Mo Wagner, Gary Harris
Trade PG for 52.5M in expirings at the expense of trading back from 3 to 6

Magic out: Anthony Black, Jett Howard, Mo Wagner, Gary Harris
Magic in: Jordan Poole
Magic need a shot making G and take a shot on Poole for the bottom of their roster salaries.

Wizards out: #6, Khris Middleton, Jordan Poole
Wizards in: #3, PG, Anthony Black, Jett Howard
Wiz may be willing to overpay PG to sell tickets while they continue to rebuild. #3 pick can be a difference maker and Black and Howard are still interesting enough prospects to give mins to on a bad team.

I'd be more amenable to this if it was Embiid instead of George.

If they acknowledge the correct boat anchor, and untether the team from its former centerpiece, I think the freedom that brings would be incredibly helpful.

If our guy (Ace or Noa) is available at #5 then I'll do this:

Sixers out / Jazz in: George, #3
Jazz out / Sixers in: Markannen, #5

Looks like younger Ainge is ready to deal, unlike his daddy who always asks for too much.

I think you probably have to give Utah a little more.

PG, 3, and 28 LAC 1st for Lauri, 5, and 21.

Ace will be gone by 5, so you have to feel comfortable taking Noa (or someone else you feel really good about) at 5.

I'd be down for this trade though. Even in Lauri isn't a superstar, at least he's on the right side of 30.

Assume the team trading up to 3 takes Ace. Then CHA at 4 goes VJ.

Left with your choice of Tre, KJ, or Kon.

Or you could trade down again. Nets are interested. You'd either have to be sure WSH or NOP is going Fears, or the guy you want is Noa.

This would kill it for me. I don't think the original is that great a deal for us. Markannen looked not great this year, like a guy who just got his massive pay day and then lets it ride a bit. Sure he's younger than PG, maybe he was injured a bit? I don't know as i don't really follow the jazz much. but i'm not super keen to take on bigger/longer money just because he's a bit younger. A healthy PG is still better, and i really feel like he will have at least a good year this year.
