They have been in asset collection mode for 2 years and have 3 bonus first rounds on top of all their picks, I don't think they tanked the season so that they could include that high pick in a trade while keeping all these future firsts.
The goal of trading for Bam would be to try to maximize the team right now which we need to draft at #4 in order to do that, but yeah for Miami of course they would want #4 because that would be the top asset anyone would consider offering for Bam.
I can support your rationale here.
Bank 4 for longterm sustainability knowing the talent/upside available in this draft, leverage those 3 outside 1st round picks instead for any big addition.
The (likely) Grizzlies 1st 2026 (18 this draft), Mavs top-2 protected 2027, Heat lotto protected 2027 (or unprotected 2028) would make a strong bid for a really damn good defensive stud.
One example - OG Anunoby. Is he even worth 3 first round picks?
OG + 4 > BAM + one of those outside 1st round picks.
No question.
