We are talking about winning a championship and it is true it is not ideal to have your top 2 players both be defensively deficient unless you devise a way to work around it.

So you either trade one of them (and we know that won't be Brunson) or you devise a way to make it work.

I think because they love KAT and still believe in all his other elite characteristics their plan A is to figure out how to make it work. Its why I love the JJJ (or Giannis) idea.

I also think you could do it albeit on a bit of a lower level with Mitch but the mitch issue is extreme injury proneness, lack of offense and FT shooting and with him also being on last year of his deal.

I get it but we aren’t getting any player like that for free so the question then becomes what are we losing in the process?

If it’s just Mikal, sure fine he’s easily replaced. OG, not so much. I don’t think any trade for a high caliber player like that is coming cheap so it’s not like we can just add pieces like that to what is already in place so then the question becomes what holes are we creating in other areas?

If it's true Orlando has Issacs on the block along with its two first round picks, we could trade Mikal - they want a rotational guy and their backcourt is light - and we could use the picks on the St. Joes 6'9" guy and the Sorber center guy to give us instant bigs on the bench. That could complement JB & KAT with a new coach mixing and matching throughout the games.

I don’t know much about this draft class so I have no idea if that’s a good gamble or not. I would think they would want some more vets though instead of rookies.

and we're back

KAT for KD incoming
“The way the Knicks get this done is Karl-Anthony Towns,” Windhorst said. “It has to do with the trade rules. It has to do with stuff like that. The Knicks would have to trade three rotation players otherwise.

I want a pick in return.

KAT for KD plus two 1sts is OK. Gotta get two picks back even if one of them is protected. That's how we add depth. KAT is 7 years younger than KD... they have to pony up to make Booker happy.

Use one of the picks and do a sign and trade of Precious for Donte, and we out be cooking

Sounds one sided... (KD wanting NY)

Precious + one of the firsts we potentially get from the KD trade can go for Donte... sure that would be great.

So KAT for one year of KD? Are we extending him? Is our championship window gonna be one and done? I'd rather keep KAT.

i’ll make a kd for kat swap if push came to shove but i’d need compensation in the way of picks/young talent in addition to kd, truth be told i’m not sold you can win with kat and his mental lapses defensively with unnecessary fouling/not being able to guard in space as a 5

Nope it’s not one sided. Knicks want KD as well. In the past 24 hours we’ve been in contact with Phoenix about acquiring KD.

Youth compensation doesn't help us compete right now unless we are using it in another trade. My problem is KD is an UFA after this year. What if he splits? And maybe resigning him at 37 is actually worse...

If we can guarantee a chip next year, I pull the trigger. But its not a slam dunk sure thing with KDs injury history.

So windy and Shams have continued with Knicks and KD however every beat writer that covers the knicks has adamantly said no KD to the knicks, so what are we to believe?

It’s definitely a risk, but you also don’t want to waste Brunson’s prime either. If getting KD gives us a chance at a title you have to go after it. Even if it makes our window smaller.

Shams has never missed in his life. I’ll take his word over guys who has mediocre track records.

I doubt Phoenix parts with any picks or young talent. The Knicks aren't a good trade partner for them.

Spurs and Rockets probably have the better assets. Not sure we have what they want unless they want KAT
