I think Spurs should ride with what they got. With way the cap is they're going to have so many guys on rookie deals and they're only going to go as far as Wemby takes them. For them I don't think 1-2 years of KD is worth 5-6 years of 2-3 really good young players with Allstar potential.

As a Heat fan, I'm fine with giving up anything outside of Bam and Herro for KD. Again with the way the cap is I think Heat would be smart to hold on to Ware. I don't think he's going to be an Allstar, but again his salary against the cap gives you a legit starter at a great value.

I think MIN. They give up Gobert who while still effective, is getting quite old. MIN stays with Reid and Randle as their frontcourt and tries to look for a backup

Wild card. He stays put at Phoenix. Or back to OKC?

If it's out east. Mmmaybe New York? But the Knicks FO and coaching situation is a mess.
Yeah, no. He's not staying here. At least we can get something for him unlike Beal who is just eating up a roster space.

I feel like the Knicks might be the one. Bridges comes back to Phoenix, in addition to Hart and Robinson and whatever picks.

It seems like Houston would have to eat into their core identity too much for a 36yo Durant. Timberwolves would need to involve Randle and something else of worth but is that enough for KD? Spurs would have to include Fox, which seems unwise to trade a 27yo good player + another piece for 1-2 years of old KD. Especially since Spurs likely want to build for a window of 5-7 years.

I'm just not really sure what KD's value is that this point. As a Thunder fan, I might do Hartenstein/Joe/Topic and some 2nds but I'm guessing that's not enough. I don't want to give up any of their top 8-9 players (except Hartenstein would have to be included for salary matching) and I don't want to give up any 1sts.

If Minnesota is willing to trade Gobert then I think it'll be them. Otherwise, I'm going Houston. They have the best collection of young talent and draft capital. PHX would get the best return from them imo. Something like Jalen Green + Jabari Smith Jr. + Draft Pick(s) is prob the best package you're going to get for KD.

That is a terrible trade for the Rockets.

KD is 37 and on the final year of his deal.

I don't know how accurate the ESPN trade checker is but I can't make any deal with Minnesota work. Maybe it's stuck on FY 24-25 and when we officially move to 25-26 it will work?

Durant wouldn’t get traded to Houston without agreeing to an extension first. Also, Jalen Green is just not good. A lot of Rockets’ fans would rather keep Jabari Smith Jr. out of the deal if the Rockets are acquiring KD. Jabari plays his role really well and doesn’t need a lot of shots. Jalen Green doesn’t bring much to the table other than scoring, and he would be the third or fourth option on the team if Durant is in Houston.

Even if Thunder loses in the Finals they're still in great shape for next 4-5 years. I'd keep the core intact.

I have a strange feeling he ends up on the Wolves.

Rockets need him the most though. Not sure how Phoenix feels about adding Jalen Green when they already have Booker.

How does it work in Minnesota with Naz Reid and Julius Randle if they trade for KD?

It makes perfect sense from Durant’s perspective, not as much from the Spurs. Durant knows adding him to Wemby and Fox makes the Spurs a serious contender, and there is no state income tax in Texas. Plus, he played his college ball an hour away in Austin.

This is part of the reason why I think the Rockets ultimately get him. They need his skillset, and they don’t have a good offensive engine like the Thunder did with SGA or the Spurs do with Wemby. They need a Durant to keep up with other Western Conference contenders.

They love (no pun intended) Kevins up there in Minnesota.

Especially Kevin McHale.

And have Kevin Harlan call it

I'm really hoping OKC. That means things could have turned out well for me. I'm selfish like that.

Spurs shouldn't do it imo, they should target Lauri.
