"TOP 8 " DOES NOT MEAN SUNS KEEP PICK IF IT'S TOP 8, TOP 8 IS REFERENCE FOR WIZARDS PART OF A DEAL AS THEY DON'T "OWN" 2026 PICK, IT GOES TO KNICKS IF IT FALL FROM THAT TOP 8 PROTECTION.

But Wizards just won 18 games and are least talented nba team, so their part of the deal is going anywhere.

Thanks for clarifying next year's pick. I'm pretty they calculated that. That was what I was worried about the most. Haha... Hope the suns bounce back ... Making it even more of a moot point. Lol

We sent out KCP and Cole .... that people were down to give up for anything. Therefore draft capital has to go out. Price of keeping players that they might look at as the core. And we got a player that I would have had at the top of my list.

He's near ideal for what we need. He's got the offensive punch we need ... Maintaining a decent level of size and defense. We have secured 4 players either going into their prime or in their prime. If they are down to float the money .... This has been what people have wanted. This was a win now move.

You give up draft capital for the future to secure the now. If things don't go as plan.... Players can be traded for future capital.

If we run into the season with

Suggs/WCJ2?
Bane/Black/Howard
Franz/TDS
Banchero/JI
WCJ1/Moe/Goga

I'm pretty happy with that team. Balance of offense and defense.... Strength in both the starting lineup and developing strength on the bench.

We have what, $177M of cap space now , in between 10 men, so keeping pick, maybe retaining Houstan and trying to talk Mortiz into taking smaller , shorter deal?

I have no clue, that 25th pick probably now has more value to us than the others, because we need some lower level cheap contracts.

Using the MLE would hard cap the Magic at $195.9M.

The Magic are currently at $200.9M in committed salaries on 14 players.

If they decline options on Moritz, Gary and CoJo, that will bring them down to $179M on 11 players.

Full MLE is $14.1M and would put them just $2.8M below the hard cap/first apron on 12 players.

The 25th pick is $2.9M in 25-26.

So if they have any desire to use the MLE, they would looking at punting Isaac into the Kings TPE and/or Jett into somebody's cap space.

The Phoenix pick is the most valuable asset we sent out. There's a good chance it could be 2-10. Not a guarantee. Who knows what Phoenix gets for Durant. That pick could still end up being mid teens.

16 this year is probably not going to be a needle mover. The 2 unprotected picks were giving should be no higher than 20s and the swap for our pick with Memphis most likely won't convey.

As for the fit. Does our ball handling, passing, and shooting get better without sacrifice defense? Is this roster better than last years roster? What other moves will be made?

Current depth chart:

Suggs/?/?
Bane/Black/Howard
Wagner/TDS/Houstan
Banchero/Isaac
Carter/Bitazde/*Wagner

Harris is waived or I guess can still be used in conjunction with another trade.

Orlando probably signs one of Schroeder/Brogdon/Dinwiddie and drafts a BPA at #25

As many have said, 4 picks is a lot...but I really like Bane. This is a great fit. Now we just need a damn PG.

Instead of using the MLE, do we have any more ammo to trade for a PG?

Would we be crazy to trade something like WCJ, Harris, Jett, and the 25th pick (post draft) for Simons?

I’m jumping in here without reading all the prior pages, incase someone already addressed this. Just my 2 cents.
They gave up all these picks because the core is set for at least 4 years and the will be over the cap, near or past the 1st apron.
They could not afford all these 1st round picks.
So they are balancing the team and payroll, as best they can. Can’t critique them for these moves too much.

Thing is, neither Bane nor Suggs will be coming off the bench. The only player benchable is WCJ. So I don't see us going after a starting point guard now. Not unless we trade Suggs, which would be a little shocking. I never bought the Garland thing. For better or worse, Suggs, Bane, and AB are our point guards by committee. And we can assume we'll have a veteran third stringer like every team does.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Magic could also use their MLE in a trade. They could absorb Mike Conley Jr. to be the veteran backup if they were so inclined.

I personally think Black is worth (2) FRP’s so you could look at this trade as Weltman valuing Blacks upside more than middling future picks.

Which one looks better to you?

KCP
Anthony Black
Cole Anthony
#16
‘28 FRP (unprotected)
‘30 FRP (unprotected)

Or

KCP
Cole Anthony
#16
‘26 FRP via PHX
‘28 FRP (unprotected)
‘29 FRP (swap)
‘30 FRP (unprotected)

I'm not mad at the trade, we do realize that the Pacers are in the Finals? If there's ever an opportunity to push your chips in do it now. Forget about the future picks, I'm sick of waiting for this team to be all they can be.

I agree.

Honestly I don’t think we are trading Suggs either.

I think this team is built to match against the Cavs’ backcourt of Garland and Donovan next year.

More than anything, I think weltman would be busy signings minimum salary sharpshooters in free agency.

Collecting my thoughts here lol

1. Fantastic trade... This is the all in move that you make to make you an Elite team whilst not compromising the identity of your team and not giving much up much when it comes to player personnel.

This team literally gave up little to NOTHING to get this guy. On top of that still having tradable assets like a Goga, Issac, Carter Jr., Black, Suggs, and even Banes in their pack pocket for smaller moves or to get some future draft picks/prospects and to avoid cap hell.

Them trading these draft pick are inconsequential in the grand scheme of things when it comes to them having assets already on their team to swap for other assets when the time comes.

2. They did right by KCP/Anthony... The front office traded them to a team that's a good team that's not garbage. I'm happy they did that.

3. I think there are likely 2 maybe 3 more moves that will be made in the off season for the bench. Obviously I'm assuming most likely a draft day trade will happen will happen involving Jonathan Issac/Goga/Black/Harris to move up to get either a PG or C (or both) of their liking.

I'm really liking what they're doing right now. And clearly they're not done wheeling and dealing. Let's get it...

Is it an overpay? Yes, may be. But Desmond Bane is an elite shooter, one of the best in the league.

I agree, Magic needs a PG. But offseason is not over yet, we will see.

Ot aure if Black is worth 2 1sts tbh. The guy cant shoot. He is jack of all trades, master of none.

If he is elite at something, he’d be more valuable.

If they think Walter Clayton Jr will be there and get him at #25 it’s a great deal. He reminds me a lot of Jamal Murray and would be a great fit for us.

Hopefully not, I think getting a 3rd string Center would make more sense now at this point then just trade goga or dell to get a pg or 6th man.

And-1

The 4-FRPs per se is not an over pay. Orlando traded five bench0level assets for Bane; and the Phoenix pick.
If that pick is high lotto, then it's an overpay. If it is low lottery, then the Magic traded six bench players for one near all-star starter.

So: wll the Magic be thin on all those bench players? No. There is a lot of talent in the LLE range this year for the FA market.
