Amtrak is great in that you can relax, walk around, read a book, eat. But it's not economical. I took it once to St. Louis for a Brewers series. 2 stops between downtown MKE and Chicago and then several stops between Chicago and St. Louis. It seemed every time it got up to speed it would start slowing down. Then there was a 20 minute delay for another train to clear. All in all we saved no time and it cost a lot more than driving.

This is my beef with the train as well. Start, stop, load. Start, stop, load. It's barely a time saver, and it's not a scenic route like out west. It's really only good if you need to study or get work done during the travel time, or just don't have a car.

Yeah, I don't mind the drive, but you'd think the train would offer at least one more benefit other than you don't have to focus on the road. $100 round trip and I'd be in. Maybe just have bad dates because I've heard others say it can be cheaper.

This is America after all. In japan or Europe you dont even consider a car for like 90% of the places you want to visit

I wonder if it's singularly funded by a rich alum who is softball obsessed, or if there is some reason they collectively are targeting softball.

As someone around the OU softball program, which is a powerhouse, they've invested a lot into that program. I can't speak on NIL and all that, because I don't really care, but they just built a really nice new stadium and the women's softball world series is hosted in OKC, 30 minutes from OU.

There is probably quite the gap in investment in some of these non-football/basketball sports where if you want to invest a lot, you'll probably get rewarded very quickly with a success.

Also, probably a good time to invest in softball ahead of the olympics to get some name recognition.

I've just finished Snowbound by Blake Crouch, that marks every one of his books read. Easily one of my favorite authors. I actually liked Recursion and The Pines trilogy the most even over Dark Matter. Snowbound was entertaining but nothing amazing. Need a new author in that same veinu kmjnb. I've read all of Andy Weir's, most of JA Konrath, Jack Kilborn. Any recommendations similar to those?
