I took it once to St. Louis for a Brewers series. 2 stops between downtown MKE and Chicago and then several stops between Chicago and St. Louis. It seemed every time it got up to speed it would start slowing down. Then there was a 20 minute delay for another train to clear. All in all we saved no time and it cost a lot more than driving.
This is my beef with the train as well. Start, stop, load. Start, stop, load. It's barely a time saver, and it's not a scenic route like out west. It's really only good if you need to study or get work done during the travel time, or just don't have a car.
