Superteams require already established superstar players deciding to team up. When KD decided to join the Warriors, that's when it became a superteam.
Lebron in Miami was the first super team
Boston's Allen, KG, and PP team came before Miami.
No, that wasn’t player driven. Lebron/Wade/Bosh made the first “super team.”
The name became a part of regular basketball fan vocabulary and usage for that Heat team.
Did other great teams exist before that team formed? Well, duh, yes. But “super team” is a construct of the super friends choosing to band together in their primes, walking away as #1 options from their previous squads.
Side note: I still wanna see what people really honestly think of a Rodman-lead squad where he is their best player, and what team success they would find.
