This was getting repeated on Reddit, but I don't think it's true. Looking back through the play by play I only see 4 turnovers and one was the 5 second call that wasn't really his fault
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

You cannot have your stars play with a calf strain after this, it's just too clear what's going to happen.

Props for still trying though. You got this far you got to try.

Yes!!! We did it!!!! I am so thrilled. Great effort by our entire team even with sketchy moments and Hali's injury. We fought well all year long and played winning basketball. Well deserved. I'm popping the cork right now. LFG!!!
Cheers

That’s been true for a while for me.

It's tough, Russ was here so long and had the hardware and had taken us right to the precipice. I think this makes it impossible to hang on to that though

Russ was never as great as Shai because of Basketball-IQ. He chased KD away with his game. But he was a great competitor for OKC for sure.

Dort was huge with his defense and offensive rebounds in key moments.

Offense struggled but those rebounds gave us chance to run a clock. That killed Pacers moment.

That was because every decent coach Presti talked to said they'd bench Russ every time he took a 3pt shot with 20 seconds on the shot clock and demand he be fined for conduct detrimental to the team. Presti let his stars run the show which is why the offense went from complete garbage with Russ to movement and flowing with CP3. I still contend that if SGA had only played with Russ and not CP3 he would never have evolved as a player. Russ did more to help OKC lose than SGA and KD combined did to help OKC win.

I'll never understand how people think Russ was good for OKC. He was a disease that OKC needed to get rid of for years before they did. He was so bad that Houston figured it out in one year and dumped him knowing they couldn't win with him and went into a rebuild realizing they had screwed up. Trading Russ for a significant player and coaching upgrade in addition to the picks is the single best transaction in Presti's career. If only he had traded Russ instead of Harden then OKC would have a chance at a title the first time they were good.

Non ball movement is a Presti’s OKC special. Even this iteration defaulted to that in key moments .

To me the real question is will shai become the most beloved thunder player? He should be.

There are very few good players that don't have that as their default. It has to be coached out of them. The only great player I can think of that didn't have iso and getting their shot as their default is LeBron and he has gotten grief from media in the past for making the correct basketball play over forcing his own shot.

KD getting traded on the day that OKC wins their first championship is a nice touch of irony. The West is going to be tough next year. Houston had the 2nd best record and they add KD. Denver will still be Denver with Jokic, Murray, etc. Minny is going to be tough. The Spurs should take a big jump forward with Fox, Wemby, Castle and the #2 pick. If Castle develops a 3pt shot the Spurs could be the #2 team in the West next year and that is before they make any additions via trade, which they have the assets to do. Dallas will be tough if Kyrie recovers to go with AD and Flagg, along with the rest of their solid rotation of big men. The Lakers with LeBron and Luka are going to be tough. LAC has a chance to put up a fight. GS with Curry, Butler, etc. will be very good. Phoenix has a chance to be very strong if Green continues to develop and they nail the #10 pick with Booker and if Beal is healthy for the playoffs they could be a tough out.

The East doesn't look to be as strong with Boston and Indy both taking significant blows due to injury. What would be a wild shift would be if LeBron went back to the East to give himself a significantly better chance at making the Finals again. I could see LeBron trying to force his way to Orlando or Detroit if he doesn't want to fight with the juggernauts in the West. It could be a very interesting off-season.

I'm trying hard to not think about next year yet. We've gotta enjoy this.

Feels so good thinking about the many haters and how mad they are now.

Draft is under 60 hours. What do you want to do? Trade up? Trade out? Got any players in mind? Off-season is in full swing. It's time to start thinking about next year.
