Suns Consider No. 10 Pick 'Jewel' Of Kevin Durant Trade

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jun 23, 2025 5:37 pm

The Phoenix Suns acquire Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks as part of the Kevin Durant trade package from the Houston Rockets, but acquiring the No. 10 pick in this week's draft was considered most valuable for the Suns. Green and Brooks were starters last season for the Rockets.

"Honestly, the jewel of all this was the No. 10 overall pick in the draft," said Shams Charania on the Pat McAfee Show. "You talk about why now? The trade happened now because the NBA draft is two days away. The Suns have to get moving on getting draft prospects. Getting intel. Getting them into their facility."

ESPN has the Suns selecting Collin Murray-Boyles out of South Carolina in their first mock since Phoenix acquired the pick. Murray-Boyles could give the Suns positional versatility at both power forward and center.

Green signed a three-year, $106 million contract extension with the Rockets in October 2024. Green has positional overlap with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.

Our franchise is run by absolute clowns.

I thought Dillon Brooks was the "Jewel" of the KD trade!

With that in mind: Embiid nicknamed himself "The Process" for obvious reasons. Whoever gets drafted at #10 should be nicknamed "Jewel"!

Should have never traded the pick away in the first damned place.

lol the only jewels in this draft are Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey, and Dylan Harper. Everyone else is a potential bust. Tenth pick is going to be weak this year.

If #10 pick is the jewel, what about the former #2 pick?

First, the headline is wrong, this looks like Shams saying it’s ‘the jewel’ and not the Suns. Second who cares about where guys were drafted at if they’ve been in the league this long? James Wiseman wouldn’t be a jewel in any deal and he was a quite recent #2.

definitely wldnt argue - but I see some improvement in their process. Altho the meager results are disappointing, @ least it seems like they’re operating with some sort of reasonable plan …

They really should be shopping Book tho. It’s gonna be a lot harder to move him after that extension, and it’s not like the team’s gonna be markedly better anytime soon.

We 100% should move Book but Ishbia won't because he's an idiot. We won't be in any position to compete for the rest of Bookers career so why keep him around? Speed up the rebuild process and move him for picks.
