Do you think the late season success of that 5 man group is real?
How you answer that question is also likely the source of most of the disagreements on this board right now.
I think it probably is but we should be approaching it with uncertainty. That said, I think it's the only semi-reasonable immediate path forward.
I think gaining clarity on it has to be one of the main goals this year.
I think over the past 6 years or so, maybe a plurality of conversations around here have revolved around the idea of getting more versatile for playoff matchups. I think this year, I’m most interested in the opposite. Get overlapping skillset shooters at different sizes and spam it. Have a clear answer.
Optimistically, that squad could obliterate a bunch of teams, and force others, like Indiana did these playoffs, to guard and contain on multiple fronts. It could be hell to deal with.
Pessimistically, the lack of traditional perimeter creation could lead to long offensive possessions without the ability to easily generate space. It could be an offense that gets stuck in mud too often.
Like you, I think it has to be pursued, because the cost to acquire those skillsets is a hell of a lot cheaper than the other.
